CELEBRATING SENIORS
SPECIAL FEATURE
Exciting events right across the west
City of Canterbury Bankstown
is encouraging local
seniors to ‘reach beyond’ as
it hosts a jam-packed program to
celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival
this month.
Locals aged 55 years and over can
take part in more than 50 exciting
events and activities running from
now until March 28.
The program caters for the diverse
needs and interests of seniors,
including bus trips to Berry, learn to
line dance workshops, jolly jigsaw
afternoons and so much more.
The popular Canterbury-Bankstown
Seniors Concert will be back
at Bankstown Sports Club on Thursday,
March 21 with ‘Back to Tivoli’,
an upbeat line-up of entertainment.
There is also a range of activities
available to help keep seniors
healthy and active, including golf
days, pickleball, laughter yoga and
dance fit sessions.
Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor
Bilal El-Hayek said the NSW Seniors
Festival is the largest gathering of
seniors in CBCity and an important
opportunity to celebrate their
contributions.
“Our senior citizens have played
a crucial role in building the foundations
of our City today,” El-Hayek
said.
“Last year, we saw thousands
come together to celebrate and
connect with our diverse range of
activities.
“And as this year’s theme ‘Reach
Beyond’ points out, I encourage all
seniors in our City to get out of their
comfort zones and try something
new.
“We have some exciting new
offerings this year including fishing,
sustainable jewellery making and
new locations for our bus trips. Take
advantage of the many wonderful
activities, have fun and meet new
people!”
Informative workshops by Seniors
Rights Service will also be available
to offer tips on keeping safe, planning
ahead and managing finances,
along with sessions by Services
NSW to navigate the Savings Finder
website.
Tickets for the bus trips are on
