ou’ve heard of ‘Humans of New York’,<br />

now get ready for a photography exhibition<br />

that’s a l abou the humans of<br />

<strong>Parra</strong>ma ta.<br />

The personal stories of migration, strength,<br />

sporting achievements and volunteering<br />

in the <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta community are being<br />

celebrated through a brand new exhibition –<br />

‘Community Love’.<br />

Open until June 29 at PHIVE, ‘Community<br />

Love’ is an interactive exhibition that features<br />

photographs of 18 local artists, educators,<br />

business owners, social entrepreneurs,<br />

conservationists, and volunteers.<br />

Along with checking out the selection of<br />

photos, visitors wi l also be able to find out<br />

more about each of the <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta locals by<br />

scanning QR codes to see interviews, videos<br />

One of the people captured in the series<br />

of photos is Tahera Nassrat, a self described<br />

“refugee girl turned boss lady,” who moved<br />

to Australia almost 19 years ago after fleeing<br />

Afghanistan fo lowing the Taliban coming to<br />

Now a tax accountant and business<br />

coach, Nassrat founded the Afghan Peace<br />

Foundation in 2019 to help refugees and<br />

immigrants lead self-su ficient lives. She said<br />

it’s <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta that has made her who she is<br />

“Refugee girls from Afghanistan, firs thing<br />

that comes to our mind ‘you are an Afghan<br />

girl, you can’t do it’,” she said.<br />

“In <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta, I say, I can do this. You<br />

need to live the life of <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta, you need<br />

to breathe the air of <strong>Parra</strong>ma ta, it makes you<br />

feel confident.<br />

“It makes you feel [like] who you want to be.”<br />

has been fined $1000.<br />

children in a motor vehicle, causing emotional<br />

vehicle while she went into Woolworths in<br />

Granvi le. The court heard tha they were in<br />

the car for at least 20 minutes before police<br />

were alerted by a concerned witness.<br />

According to police, the front and rear<br />

windows were down about an inch. They say<br />

they managed to force a window open, unlock<br />

the doors and ca l an ambulance to assis the<br />

children who were sweating, flushed and<br />

appeared to be dehydrated.<br />

Hosseini told police that “she had to<br />

purchase something in the store and it did not<br />

take her that long”. She further stated that it<br />

was her firs time leaving the children in the<br />

vehicle una tended.<br />

Hosseini, with the assistance of a Dar interpreter,<br />

pleaded guilty a the earliest available<br />

opportunity.<br />

She was represented by a lawyer who asked<br />

Magistrate Kate Thompson to consider giving<br />

her client a Community Correction Order<br />

without conviction.<br />

The court heard that Hosseini has no prior<br />

criminal record and is otherwise a person<br />
