SPECIAL FEATURE
Parramatta puts on a show for seniors
Local seniors are invited to
enjoy a series of free and low
cost events and activities
this month as part of the 2024 NSW
Seniors Festival.
The Seniors Festival, themed
“Reach Beyond”, will celebrate
the valuable contributions
of local seniors aged 60 and over
with a variety of activities including
Pulitzer Prize winning show Wit
and seven cinema screenings at
Riverside Theatres, plus a range of
live shows, exercise classes, tours
and much more at Parramatta
Aquatic Centre (PAC), Parramatta
Library and PHIVE.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor
Pierre Esber said Council is
committed to supporting seniors
in remaining active and engaged in
their later years.
“Our seniors are important
members of our community who
have contributed to our area for
many years, and this is a chance to
give something back,” Esber said.
“We know how important it is
for our seniors to be able to access
as many activities as possible in
their local community so that they
remain active and connected with
others. I encourage locals to check
out what’s on offer and take the
chance to catch up with old friends
or connect with new ones.”
The festival’s lineup includes the
screenings of ‘Bob Marley: One
Love’, ‘A Star is Born’, ‘My Favourite
Things: Rodgers and Hammerstein
80th Anniversary concert’, ‘The
Mavis Bramston Show’ and Oscar
Nominated Short Films at Riverside
Theatres.
Parramatta Aquatic Centre is
offering a free PAC ‘Walk the Ring’
Facility Tour, as well as free exercise
sessions including Gentle Aqua,
‘Keep Watch’ Water Safety and
Drowning Prevention sessions
and a range of gentle exercise
sessions.
At PHIVE and Parramatta Libraries,
indulge in Zumba Gold and
Sound healing using singing bowl
therapy for relaxation and self-care,
alongside classes tailored to assist
local seniors with everyday life,
including Explore Ageing and Brain
Health, managing digital assets,
and a range of tech-savvy sessions
in different languages.

Who Is Eligible For The Heart Wellness Program?
If you have recently been diagnosed with a cardiac condition, had a recent cardiac event, been in hospital,
undergoing cancer treatment, or require reconditioning for your chronic cardiac condition than you are eligible to
join our program.

Is There A Cost To Enter The Heart Wellness Program?
This service is completely covered by your private health fund as a part of your hospital cover. We have agreements
with all major health funds, so there is no surprise GAP payments for our patients.
The Heart Wellness Program is a
multidisciplinary program to prevent or treat
those with heart disease. We offer this program
across 8 locations in Sydney.
The program is our modern approach to cardiac rehab, with a
specialised cardiac team attending to your individual needs in
our state of the art rehab facilities.
All patients enrolled will have access to all the members of
the cardiac team which includes the Cardiac Nurse, Exercise
Physiologist, Physiotherapist, Dietician, Occupational Therapist
and Psychologist, who are all there to provide you with the very
best Heart Wellness program experience in the country.

Is the Heart Wellness Program for
inpatients or outpatients?
The Heart Wellness progra, is the only program of its kind to offer all
three phases of cardiac rehabilitation.
The Inpatient (Phase 1) program is available for those who require
intense rehabilitation for thier heart condition.
The Outpatient (Phase 2) program is a 3-day per week program across
6 weeks, in which you will complete a detailed individualised program
to address yur specific meeds by our cardiac team.
The Maintenance (Phase 3) program is designed to assist you in your
transition home after completeing the outpatient program with
regular phone calls and a follow-up assessment to track your health.
