via Facebook Live. The broadcast allowed
more than 100 additional viewers
to join the live audience and learn about
LaMATS’ numerous municipal services
and benefits.

LaMATS Board Names LRPA
Scholarship for Jimmy Williams
At the February 28 meeting of the La-
MATS Board of Directors, officers approved
funding for a new scholarship
program in honor of the late Mayor Jimmy
Williams of Sibley, a longtime LaMATS
Rebecca Otte of LDEQ informs municipal leaders on the state Brownfields Program benefits
and recent success stories at the LaMATS 101 breakout session.

parks and recreation
staff from
Louisiana towns
and villages to
Jimmy Williams
receive specialized
training from the Louisiana Recreation
and Park Association (LRPA).

the new Jimmy Williams Scholarship
as a way
to honor his
dear friend
of many
y e a r s ,
whom he
praised for
his integrity
and character.
LaMATS President Mayor David Butler of
Woodworth called the honor “well deserved,”
noting Williams’ love of sports
and dedication to public parks and recreation.
“There could be no more fitting
honor for our good friend,” said Butler.

members at its
quarterly meeting
on Wednesday,

qualifications for the Board seat, which
fills the position formerly held by the
late Jimmy Williams.
