When Mountains Meet :: At The Studio, Edinburgh.<br />

The captivating cross-cultural tale tells the true story<br />

of Scottish musician Anne Wood as she travels from<br />

the Highlands to the Himalayas to meet her father for<br />

the first time. Featuring an international cast of<br />

storytellers and musicians, the show features a<br />

vibrant live score combining alap, raag, reel and<br />

strathspey, as well as English, Gaelic and Hindustani<br />

vocals. ‘The When Mountains Meet’ album will be<br />

released on 25 April. Featuring new music composed<br />

by Anne, the show is co-directed by Kath Burlinson<br />

(Mairi Campbell: Pulse and Auld Lang Syne) and Niloo<br />

-Far Khan (Play, Pie, Pint; Grid Iron/EIF; NTS) with<br />

Mary MacMaster (The Poozies) on harp, Rick Wilson<br />

on percussion and Rakae Jamil on sitar. The cast of<br />

storytellers is Iman Aktar (The Great Muslim Panto,<br />

Play, Pie, Pint), Hassan Javed (The Great Muslim<br />

Panto, Play, Pie, Pint) and Jamie Zubari (In The<br />

Weeds, Mull Theatre).<br />

7.30pm. Niamhy Mac has been championed by<br />

Scotland On Sunday and secured airplay via Amazing<br />

Radio. She’s also performed at Belladrum Tartan<br />

Heart Festival, for Tiny Changes, Sofar Sounds, and<br />

Musicplus+ Originally from the Highlands, Niamhy<br />

Mac is now based in Scotland’s capital.<br />

SCOTTISH NATIONAL JAZZ ORCHESTRA & RSNO<br />

better believe it’s going to swing! The Scottish<br />

National Jazz Orchestra (SNJO) is considered by many<br />

to be one of Europe’s foremost contemporary big<br />

bands. Founder/Director Tommy Smith established<br />

the SNJO in 1995 as a not-for-profit organisation with<br />

a crystal clear artistic vision and core values of<br />

versatility, discipline and expression. The SNJO is<br />

dedicated to promoting jazz as a pre-eminent art<br />

form through performances, original compositions,<br />

recordings, and educational outreach programmes.<br />

This commitment extends to the task of developing<br />

promising young jazz musicians through the ranks of<br />

Since the release of his acclaimed 2020 album 'Where<br />

The World Is Thin' Kris has been busy playing major<br />

shows with Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart, Sekou Keita<br />

and Jackie Morris for their Lost Spell Songs project<br />

(Thirty Tigers, 2021), won yet another BBC Radio 2<br />

Folk Award for Best Original Song (see the band<br />

performing 'Scapa Flow 1919' below) won Album of<br />

The Year at the Scots Trad Music Award 2021, duetted<br />

with Aoife O’Donovan and toured with Lau and Rachel<br />

Baiman before returning to the studio in early 2023 to<br />

record the new songs for this compilation album.<br />

‘Hit The Road’ with LOW TIDE, HOME FOR JOY<br />

and ADAM and the OBSERVERS :: At Beacon Arts,<br />

Greenock. Three emerging young bands have been<br />

selected to take part in Scotland’s esteemed youth<br />

music touring project Hit The Road, and will each<br />

perform headline hometown gigs. LOW TIDE – are<br />

an Edinburgh-based indie rock band who formed in<br />

high school, their debut single Between Knuckles was<br />

released in August 2023. HOME FOR JOY – are a<br />

Greenock alt-rock band their first single Chapstick<br />

was released in January 2024. ADAM AND THE<br />

OBSERVERS – are a Dundee group, they aim to offer<br />

a raw, true perspective on life that is relatable and<br />

DOUGIE MacLEAN - Celebrating 50 Year of<br />

Music :: At Lanark Memorial Hall, Lanark. Dougie<br />

MacLean has built an international reputation as<br />

songwriter, composer and extraordinary performer on<br />

his own terms. This talent has taken his performance<br />

to concerts and festivals all over the world and to the<br />

stages of Carnegie Hall in New York, London’s Festival<br />

Theatre and the Sydney Opera House. Other<br />

appearances of note include sharing the stage with<br />

Lou Reed and Eddi Reader in the grounds of Culzean<br />

Castle at the Burns and A’ That festival, featuring on<br />

the BBC Hogmanay programme from Edinburgh<br />

Castle with James Taylor and sharing the bill with the<br />

legendary Mavis Staples at Glasgow‘s Royal Concert<br />

Runrig's Farewell Concert Film – ‘The Last<br />

Dance’ :: At Cumbernauld Theatre, Cumbernauld.<br />

The film has captured the emotion of the farewell<br />

concert, immortalising the legacy of the most<br />

successful Celtic rock band of all time, and celebrating<br />

the end of an era together with their fans. Runrig<br />

devotees from over 20 countries arrived in Stirling to<br />

sing and dance the night away. Every note and chord<br />

resonated in the hearts of everyone at the gig. Runrig<br />

signed off with an incredible acapella version of “Heart<br />

Of Olden Glory”, rejoicing with their fans at the<br />

emotional ending of a remarkable 45-year career. The<br />

film is the definitive Runrig experience and illustrates<br />

the importance of the band in Scottish culture and<br />
