Making connections: DAVE ARCARI / ANDRES
ROOTS :: At Scottish Music Centre, 100 Candleriggs,
Glasgow. G1 1NQ. This event is free for Scottish Music
Centre members, with a suggested donation of £5 to
non-members. Join award winning Blues guitarists,
Dave Arcari and Andres Roots as they share their
wealth of knowledge and experience of touring the
globe. An evening of thoughtful talks and terrific
performances, this event is must-see for anyone
looking to tour internationally! This talk and
performance will be the beginning of Dave Arcari and
Estonia's top and Andres Roots Scottish tour - the
guitarists are set to play Stirling's Tolbooth (15 May),
Irvine HAC (16 May), King's Theatre, Kirkcaldy (17
May) and Glassel Hall, Banchory (18 May). Arcari is
delighted to have Roots join him for the shows:
"We've been pals for a long time and played shows
together in the UK, Estonia, Finland and further afield
many times over the years. "It all started in 2005
when Andres contacted me after seeing a feature in
Mojo Magazine," says Arcari. "He invited to play some
shows and a big festival (Augustibluus) in Estonia and
we've been regular visors to each other's countries
almost every year since."

award-winning artist creating a musical blend of 70’s
blues rock combined with queer feminist pop. ‘Funk
for Introverts’ is a song capable of transporting you

with hip-hop, soul, pop, and funk – the track defies all

uses her voice to express her own experience of

When Mountains Meet :: At Cottiers, Glasgow. The
captivating cross-cultural tale tells the true story of
Scottish musician Anne Wood as she travels from the
Highlands to the Himalayas to meet her father for the
first time. Featuring an international cast of
storytellers and musicians, the show features a
vibrant live score combining alap, raag, reel and
strathspey, as well as English, Gaelic and Hindustani
vocals. ‘The When Mountains Meet’ album will be
released on 25 April. Featuring new music composed
by Anne, the show is co-directed by Kath Burlinson
(Mairi Campbell: Pulse and Auld Lang Syne) and Niloo
-Far Khan (Play, Pie, Pint; Grid Iron/EIF; NTS) with
Mary MacMaster (The Poozies) on harp, Rick Wilson on
percussion and Rakae Jamil on sitar. The cast of
storytellers is Iman Aktar (The Great Muslim Panto,
Play, Pie, Pint), Hassan Javed (The Great Muslim
Panto, Play, Pie, Pint) and Jamie Zubari (In The
Weeds, Mull Theatre).

whose core members are Aidan Moffat and Malcolm
Middleton. In January 2024, the band announced their

‘Hit The Road’ with LOW TIDE, HOME FOR JOY
and ADAM and the OBSERVERS :: At Beat
Generator, Dundee. Three emerging young bands
have been selected to take part in Scotland’s
esteemed youth music touring project Hit The Road,
and will each perform headline hometown gigs. LOW
TIDE – are an Edinburgh-based indie rock band who
formed in high school, their debut single Between
Knuckles was released in August 2023. HOME FOR
JOY – are a Greenock alt-rock band their first single
Chapstick was released in January 2024. ADAM AND
THE OBSERVERS – are a Dundee group, they aim to
offer a raw, true perspective on life that is relatable
and comforting for their listeners.
