CAMERA OBSCURA :: At Barrowland Ballroom,<br />

Glasgow. The band's music has been frequently<br />

garnered comparisons to fellow Scottish band Belle<br />

and Sebastian. The band have also been praised for<br />

their "honest, wide, and adult approach to heartbreak,<br />

romantic liaisons, and escapism. New album "Look To<br />

The East, Look To The West” will be released<br />

Making connections: DAVE ARCARI / ANDRES<br />

ROOTS :: At Scottish Music Centre, 100 Candleriggs,<br />

Glasgow. G1 1NQ. This event is free for Scottish Music<br />

Centre members, with a suggested donation of £5 to<br />

non-members. Join award winning Blues guitarists,<br />

Dave Arcari and Andres Roots as they share their<br />

wealth of knowledge and experience of touring the<br />

globe. An evening of thoughtful talks and terrific<br />

performances, this event is must-see for anyone<br />

looking to tour internationally! This talk and<br />

performance will be the beginning of Dave Arcari and<br />

Estonia's top and Andres Roots Scottish tour - the<br />

guitarists are set to play Stirling's Tolbooth (15 May),<br />

Irvine HAC (16 May), King's Theatre, Kirkcaldy (17<br />

May) and Glassel Hall, Banchory (18 May). Arcari is<br />

delighted to have Roots join him for the shows:<br />

"We've been pals for a long time and played shows<br />

together in the UK, Estonia, Finland and further afield<br />

many times over the years. "It all started in 2005<br />

when Andres contacted me after seeing a feature in<br />

Mojo Magazine," says Arcari. "He invited to play some<br />

shows and a big festival (Augustibluus) in Estonia and<br />

we've been regular visors to each other's countries<br />

almost every year since."<br />

MEGAN BLACK :: At Room 2, Glasgow. Megan is an<br />

award-winning artist creating a musical blend of 70’s<br />

blues rock combined with queer feminist pop. ‘Funk<br />

for Introverts’ is a song capable of transporting you<br />

into a new world – fusing Megan’s 70’s rock influence<br />

with hip-hop, soul, pop, and funk – the track defies all<br />

expectations. A true testament to versatility, Megan<br />

uses her voice to express her own experience of<br />

neurodivergence and navigating a world where she<br />

When Mountains Meet :: At Cottiers, Glasgow. The<br />

captivating cross-cultural tale tells the true story of<br />

Scottish musician Anne Wood as she travels from the<br />

Highlands to the Himalayas to meet her father for the<br />

first time. Featuring an international cast of<br />

storytellers and musicians, the show features a<br />

vibrant live score combining alap, raag, reel and<br />

strathspey, as well as English, Gaelic and Hindustani<br />

vocals. ‘The When Mountains Meet’ album will be<br />

released on 25 April. Featuring new music composed<br />

by Anne, the show is co-directed by Kath Burlinson<br />

(Mairi Campbell: Pulse and Auld Lang Syne) and Niloo<br />

-Far Khan (Play, Pie, Pint; Grid Iron/EIF; NTS) with<br />

Mary MacMaster (The Poozies) on harp, Rick Wilson on<br />

percussion and Rakae Jamil on sitar. The cast of<br />

storytellers is Iman Aktar (The Great Muslim Panto,<br />

Play, Pie, Pint), Hassan Javed (The Great Muslim<br />

Panto, Play, Pie, Pint) and Jamie Zubari (In The<br />

ARAB STRAP (with full band) :: At Barrowland,<br />

Glasgow. Arab Strap are a Scottish indie rock band<br />

whose core members are Aidan Moffat and Malcolm<br />

Middleton. In January 2024, the band announced their<br />

new album, I'm totally fine with it, don't give a fuck<br />

anymore, with the first single "Bliss". The album will<br />

‘Hit The Road’ with LOW TIDE, HOME FOR JOY<br />

and ADAM and the OBSERVERS :: At Beat<br />

Generator, Dundee. Three emerging young bands<br />

have been selected to take part in Scotland’s<br />

esteemed youth music touring project Hit The Road,<br />

and will each perform headline hometown gigs. LOW<br />

TIDE – are an Edinburgh-based indie rock band who<br />

formed in high school, their debut single Between<br />

Knuckles was released in August 2023. HOME FOR<br />

JOY – are a Greenock alt-rock band their first single<br />

Chapstick was released in January 2024. ADAM AND<br />

THE OBSERVERS – are a Dundee group, they aim to<br />

offer a raw, true perspective on life that is relatable<br />
