Supercars to race under lights<br />

In a huge win for local motor<br />
racing fans, Supercars will<br />
finish under lights on the<br />
Sunday evening of the <strong>2024</strong><br />
Sydney SuperNight with the race<br />
start and finish time shifted back<br />
an hour to take advantage of<br />
twilight racing.<br />
Saturday’s race under lights<br />
in Sydney has become one of<br />
the most anticipated events on<br />
the calendar, and in <strong>2024</strong> the<br />
July event will feature a twilight<br />
Sunday race that will finish under<br />
lights.<br />
While the timings of the track<br />
schedule is still to be confirmed,<br />
Supercars Head of Television<br />
Nathan Prendergast said it’s great<br />
news to be finishing under lights<br />
twice at the event this year.<br />
“Night racing at Sydney Motorsport<br />
Park has become one of the<br />
highlights of the year, for fans<br />
and for viewers watching at home<br />
from around the globe,” he said.<br />
“We believe this decision<br />
improves the overall quality of the<br />
on-track show and will bring fans<br />
fireworks at Sydney Motorsport<br />
Park as the winners cross the<br />
finish line in both races.”<br />
Formats for the <strong>2024</strong> Sydney<br />
SuperNight will remain as<br />
planned, with a 90-minute<br />
practice session on the<br />
Friday of the event,<br />
followed by Qualifying<br />
and a Top Ten Shootout<br />
on Saturday, prior to<br />
Saturday night’s 200km<br />
race.<br />
Sunday will consist of<br />
one Qualifying session,<br />
a Top Ten Shootout and<br />
the twilight race, also 200km in<br />
length.<br />
This year’s event in Sydney will<br />
feature five additional categories<br />
on the support card: the Porsche<br />
Carrera Cup, Toyota Gazoo<br />
Racing 86 Series, V8 SuperUtes,<br />
Touring Car Masters and Sports<br />
Sedans.<br />
Matt Stone Racing will have a<br />
double celebration in Sydney.<br />
It will be the squad’s 200th race<br />
start, and driver Nick Percat, a<br />
2023 Sydney SuperNight.<br />

Sydney, will celebrate<br />
his 150th round<br />
start in<br />
Supercars.<br />

Sydney Motorsport Park in Eastern<br />
Creek. Tickets will be available<br />
soon through Supercars.com<br />

Improve Active Transport in <strong>Parra</strong>matta<br />
City of <strong>Parra</strong>matta is proposing to install Pedestrian<br />
and Cyclists facilities to improve walking and cycling<br />
safety and amenity in Wentworth Point, Granville,<br />
Clyde, Toongabbie, Pendle Hill, Wentworthville and<br />
Westmead as detailed below:<br />
Bennelong Parkway between Hill Road and Wentworth<br />
Common, Wentworth Point<br />
• A pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Haslams Creek,<br />
• Raised pedestrian and cyclist priority crossings of<br />
Bennelong Parkway at Wentworth Common and the<br />
Archery Car park,<br />
• Separated pedestrian and cyclist paths, and short<br />
sections of shared path on the northern side of Bennelong<br />
Parkway between Hill Road and Wentworth Common,<br />
• The 50km/h speed limit on Bennelong Parkway<br />
extended east to 100m beyond the proposed raised<br />
priority crossing at Wentworth Common,<br />
• Cyclist priority crossing over The Piazza at Bennelong<br />
Parkway,<br />
• Re-built roundabout that meets current guidelines at the<br />
intersection of The Piazza and Bennelong Parkway.<br />
Arthur Street and Hamilton Street, Granville, as well as<br />
<strong>Parra</strong>matta Road and Berry Street, Clyde<br />
• Raised pedestrian and cyclist priority crossings of<br />
Arthur Street at the M4 path and Berry Street at<br />
Sutherland Street, Clyde,<br />
• Raised shared environment intersection in Hamilton<br />
Street at Arthur Street,<br />
• Separated pedestrian and cyclist paths in Arthur Street<br />
and Hamilton Street, Granville, and Berry Street, Clyde<br />
• Shared paths in the former T6 corridor at Granville,<br />
and <strong>Parra</strong>matta Road between George Street and<br />
Berry Street, Clyde,<br />
• Raised shared zone in Berry Street between Clyde<br />
Station and Sutherland Street.<br />
Station Road and Premier Street, Toongabbie, the length<br />
of Wentworth Avenue in Toongabbie, Pendle Hill and<br />
Wentworthville, as well as Park Parade in Westmead<br />
• A pedestrian and cyclist shared underpass of Wentworth<br />
Avenue between Premier Street and Toongabbie<br />
Station, Toongabbie,<br />
• Widened shared path along Girraween Creek between<br />
Premier Street and Portico Parade,<br />
• A pedestrian and cyclist overbridge of the Cumberland<br />
Highway at the Main Western Line at Wentworthville,<br />
• Conversion of Wentworth Avenue between Reid Avenue<br />
and Bridge Road to one way westbound,<br />
• Converting the pedestrian crossings in Station Road at<br />
McCoy Street, and in Wentworth Avenue at Railway<br />
Street to raised pedestrian and cyclist crossings,<br />
• New raised pedestrian and cyclist crossings of<br />
Wentworth Avenue at Finlaysons Creek, and Bridge<br />
Road south of Byrne Street, Wentworthville,<br />
• Separated cyclist path on Wentworth Avenue between<br />
Toongabbie Station, Pendle Hill Station, Wentworthville<br />
Station and Bridge Road, with short sections of<br />
shared path at all the stations.<br />
• Separated pedestrian and cyclist paths on the southern<br />
side of Station Road between McCoy Street and<br />
Premier Street,<br />
• A raised shared environment intersection<br />
at Station Road and Premier Street,<br />
• A shared path on Burrabogee Road between Wentworth<br />
Avenue and Pendle Creek, Park Parade on the<br />
<strong>Parra</strong>matta Park frontage between Bailey Street and<br />
the <strong>Parra</strong>matta Aquatic Centre, Bridge Road between<br />
Byrne Street and the Main Western Line.<br />
Should any of these projects be approved and<br />
supported, they would likely be delivered in stages<br />
over a number of years pending detail design and<br />
funding. A copy of all the detailed plans is available<br />
