Facebook, YouTube or in person. 

Spaces fill up quickly so we recommend you book in 

as soon as you can. If you can no longer attend, please 

contact a member of staff or cancel online so it can be 

offered to someone on the waiting list. 

If your chosen event is booked out, join our waiting 

list. We will contact you if tickets become available. 

A reminder that booking fees apply to some holiday 

activities and are non-refundable.

Visit wml.vic.gov.au and select the ‘Events’ tab. You 

can search for the event name or browse by category, 

audience, language or month. Click on the event and 

click the red ‘Register for event’ button on the righthand 

side. Please make sure your details are correct 

as a staff member may need to contact you regarding 

your event. 

BY PHONE OR IN BRANCH: 

Contact us by phone or in branch, and a staff member 

will book you in to the event.

Basketball

Using Lego WeDo Robotics kits, participants will 

take on the challenge of building and programming 

a moving basketball shootout game. Guided by stepby-step 

instructions, participants will combine code 

with the satisfaction of a Lego kit in this Olympics 

themed challenge. 


Robot Olympics: Ozobot 

Obstacle Course 

8+ years 

Race tiny robotic athletes through our winding 

obstacle courses filled with twists, turns, and flags to 

dodge. These tiny Ozobots are easily programmed 

using markers and colour codes, making this speed 

test inspired by Slalom Olympic events the perfect 

introduction to coding concept.

YALF zine! 

Do you want to see your writing or artwork in print? Now's your chance! We're 

accepting submissions of short stories, story extracts, articles, fanfiction, fanart, 

poetry, and book reviews. Whether you're an aspiring author or an avid reader, 

we want to hear from you! Submit your creations in print to any branch or email 

them to WebFeedback@wml.vic.gov.au with the subject line "YALF Zine." Hurry, 

submissions are open until 31st July 2024, and limited to 300 words, Images 

need to be in jpeg, pdf or png format. See website for full terms and conditions.

Writers with disability group 

A self-directed writers group offering a safe and 

supportive space for writers with disability to share 

ideas and build community. The group meets twice 

a month to focus on self-directed writing exercises 

and peer to peer feedback. Guest workshop 

presenters are welcomed quarterly. 

The group is for anyone who experiences barriers 

as a result of their particular impairment or 

condition. This includes (but isn’t limited to) 

people with sensory or physical impairments, 

hidden impairments, ongoing medical conditions, 

intellectual impairments, learning difficulties 

or mental health conditions. If you self-identify 

as a person with disability or as someone who

Writing Emotions

The big words we use to denote emotions – anger, 

love, embarrassment – actually don’t mean that much. 

It is the writer’s job to work with the gaps in language 

and, instead of using these big ‘blanket words’, to unpick 

them. Another challenge writers face when writing 

emotions is articulating those feelings which we all 

occasionally experience, but have no names for. In this 

workshop with author Lee Kofman, writers will further 

their understanding of psychological complexity and 

will learn how to describe emotional landscapes of 

their fictional or real characters in vivid and clear ways

Poetry Slam. Jo Yang is the 2022 Australian Poetry Slam 

Champion and winner of the first Barkly poetry heat in 

the Northern Territory. Jo seeks to spread empathy and 

connection, sharing stories of her proud Chinese identity 

as well as her role as an educator. With often tough 

topics to flesh out, she deeply values storytelling through

Seed Library - Edible Plants 

Share seeds with your community at our Seed 

Library. A seed library is where the library lends 

seeds instead of books. Step 1 – “Borrow” seeds 

for free, Step 2 – Plant and tend to your crops, 

Step 3 – Return some seeds from the yield. Donate 

seeds (fruit, vegetables or herbs only) saved from 

your garden or leftover seeds from store purchased 

packets. Borrowing limited to 3 seed packets per 

season per family. Unlimited returns of labelled fruit, 

vegetable and herb seeds.
