PRESS RELEASE
Huf presents electronic know-how at the IZB
Innovation and safety from a single source
Velbert, October 2006 Huf Hülsbeck & Fürst GmbH & Co. KG is showing a
number of new developments at the Internationalen Zuliefererbörse (IZB –
International Suppliers Fair) in Wolfsburg. The main focus is on developments
that have been carried through to maturity but are not yet integrated into series
manufactures. Huf has become one of the important suppliers of mechatronic
locking systems over the past few years – almost 60 percent of the products
Huf delivers throughout the world today have electronic components. Huf
proves once again with its new developments – almost without exception
mechatronic products – its competence in the development of electronic
locking systems.
Optimised locking systems
Huf is presenting a new car key that does not only open doors but is a
multifunctional tool. As a data store and ID transmitter with display, it now –
besides its classic locking and securing function – stores and communicates, in
particular, additional vehicle data such as e.g. kilometre and petrol status, tyre
pressure or even the date of the next service.
Opening and locking processes are passed on electronically through the door
handles. Using Huf’s optimised ignition switch, engines start at the push of a
button. This provides automotive designers with creative scope: steering locks
can be integrated into the steering column at whatever place suitably.
The patented Huf Prisma® System ensures optimal protection against theft.
This innovative development frustrates enormously so-called ‘picking attempts’
or the reading and manipulation of different locking joints.
Enhanced operational convenience
The key to developing new kinds of locking solutions lies in the combination of
mechanical and electronic components. Huf proves its innovative power this
year in the sector of ‘electronic locking systems’ with special closure systems
for side doors, glove compartments and boot lids.
Illumination concepts for door handles and fitting solutions for reversing
cameras likewise demonstrate the innovative prowess of the Velbert-based
developers: systems such as the complete mechatronic solution for sliding
doors and glove compartment locks with convenience function.

Design as an important factor when buying a car
In times when products compete more and more with one another technically,
it is essential to highlight uniqueness and that certain something with design
features. It is becoming more and more important for customers to identify fully
with the image portrayed by the interior and exterior of their vehicles. Huf has
recognised these trends and is working closely together with manufacturers to
meet these requirements.
Thus, the Velbert-based automotive supplier is presenting new products with a
trendy design: for the first time Huf has used a special technology to also
surface-treat car keys and door handles.
Optimised vehicle control concepts thanks to CASIM
After the Velbert-based specialist for automotive locking systems had
enhanced its mechanical locking units with the option of an electronic control in
the mid 1980s, car keys have become something of a small, technical wonder.
The intelligent interplay between electronic and mechanical components
ensures optimal functionality with regard to passive access control concepts.
Huf has summarised all products that are required for the innovative interplay
between enhanced operational convenience and improved protection against
theft under the term CASIM (Car Access, Security and Immobilization).
