18 EHMTIC20I2 European Headache and Migraine Trust International Congress InvIted sPeaker BIograPHIes Dr Ishaq Abu-Arafeh UK Ishaq is a Consultant in Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, UK and an honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Child Health, University of Dundee. Ishaq qualified from the University of Jordan in Medicine in 1980. He had postgraduate training in paediatric neurology in Cardiff and Aberdeen. He had an MD in migraine and the periodic syndrome in children from the University of Aberdeen in 1996. For the past 20 years, Ishaq has an active research interest in the epidemiology of headache, migraine and migraine equivalents and on posttraumatic headache in children. He runs the Children’s headache clinic in Glasgow for the past 16 years. He is the Editor of “Childhood Headache” and contributed to several textbooks on paediatrics and headache. Dr Simon Akerman USA Dr. Simon Akerman is an Assistant Professor in the Headache Research Group in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, California, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Neurological sciences at the Institute of Neurology, University College London, UK, and his M.Sc. in Neuroscience from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, UK. His primary research focus is in understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms that underlie primary headache disorders to aid the development of better therapeutics. This includes understanding the role of cannabinoids in trigeminovascular nociception and the development of animal models of migraine and trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias to help elucidate brainstem mechanisms in these disorders. Prof Fabio Antonaci Italy Fabio Antonaci MD, PhD is currently Aggregate Professor and Scientific Coordinator at the University Consortium for Adaptive Disorders and Headache (UCADH), Pavia. He is actually working at the Headache Centre, C.Mondino National Institute of Neuroplgy Foundation, IRCSS, University of Pavia, Italy. Professor Antonaci received his degree in medicine at the University of Siena. He then specialised in neurology and neurophysiopathology, and completed a research fellowship at the University of Trondheim in Norway. Professor Antonaci is the Editor of EHF News. In addition, he is a member of several scientific bodies, including the Italian Society of Neurology, the Italian Society for the Study of Headache, the European Headache Federation, the British Association for the Study of Headache and the Swiss Migraine Society. He has authored more than 200 publications mainly in the fields of headache and autonomic dysfunction, pain research and kinematic analysis of neck movement. Professor Antonaci has also lectured extensively on headache disorders. Dr Lars Bendtsen Lars Bendtsen, MD, PhD, Dr.Med. Sci. is Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology and Danish Headache Center, Glostrup Hospital, University of Copenhagen. Dr. Bendtsen received his Ph.D. and Dr.Med.Sci. degrees at the University of Copenhagen. He has actively been involved in headache research since 1991 and has authored over 100 papers and book chapters on headache topics. Dr. Bendtsen is past President of the Danish Headache Society. Dr. Bendtsen is co-director of The Danish Headache Centre. His main research interest includes clinical aspects and treatment of migraine and headache in general and more specifically the pathophysiology and management of tension-type headache, medication overuse headache and trigeminal neuralgia. Mrs Audrey Craven Ireland Audrey Craven is the current President of the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA). She is a founding member and President of the European Headache Alliance (EHA). Audrey is founder and President of the Migraine Association of Ireland (MAI). She is also the former Chairperson of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI). She was a member of the Irish neurological Expert Advisory Board that produced three Standards of Care Documents. Audrey sits as the Independent Patient-Chair of the European Headache and Migraine Trust International Congress (EHMTIC). Audrey received a “Fabulous Founders” award for volunteering during 2001. Audrey is the 2004 recipient

This prestigious award is given to the woman who has done most to alleviate the burden of headache worldwide. Professor Stefan Evers Germany Prof Stefan Evers received his medical doctoral degree in 1992 at the University of Münster, Germany. He also holds a doctoral degree in musicology. He is working as Head of Department at the Neurological Hospital Lindenbrunn and as Professor of Neurology at the Department of Neurology, University of Münster. He has published more than 200 scientific papers and several book chapters and books on headache and migraine, pain research, and general clinical neurology. Dr Andreas R Gantenbein Switzerland Andreas R. Gantenbein is a trained neurologist and electrophysiologist (electroencepalography, electroneuromyography and sleep studies). After his basic medical training he worked as a research fellow at the Headache Group, Institute of Neurology, NHNN, Queen’s Square, London. In 2005 he received his MD at the University of Zürich for comparisons of Headache Medicine in primary and tertiary care. He was leading the Headache Group at University Hospital Zurich before he changed to a Leading Position in Neurorehabilitation and Pain Medicine at RehaClinic Bad Zurzach. He served as a member of the IHS Trainees and Residents Committee since 2003 and since 2009 he chaired the special interest group. In his chair-period the Junior’s Forum and the travel grants programm were successfully continued and the T&R poster prices have been introduced at the international conferences. He is member of staff of the Swiss Headache Society and Country Representative in the European Headache Federation. Dr Charly Gaul Germany Dr. med. Charly Gaul studied medicine at the University of Munich and Heidelberg Germany followed by fellowship at the University hospital in Erlangen and Halle (Salle). He was trained in Neurology, Intensive care medicine and Pain medicine. Special interests were migraine, cluster headache, headache in children, and facial pain. He was research fellow at the University of Zürich and head of the Western German Headache Center at the University of Essen (Prof. Dr. HC. Diener). Since <strong>2012</strong> he is head of the Migraine- and Headache Clinic Königstein, Germany. He published on multidisciplinary headache treatment, facial pain, neurostimulation, and complementary and alternative therapies in headache treatment. Dr Christian Geber Germany Dr. C. Geber is a neurologist from the University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz/ Germany. His fields of expertise are Quantitative Sensory Testing in the context of neuropthic pain conditions and pain-associated sensory changes due to neural plasticity. He is a member of the German network on neuropathic pain (DFNS), the German Pain Society (DGS) and the IASP. From 2005 to 2008 he was associated to the laboratory of Prof. Dr. R.D. Treede (2005–2008), and is currently doing experimental and clinical pain studies in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. F. Birklein. In 2009, he was awarded the “Pain research award” of the German pain society”. Professor Kenneth A. Holroyd USA Kenneth Holroyd, Ph.D. is Distinguished Professor Emeritus in clinical and health psychology at Ohio University, US. He has conducted both laboratory and clinical research on chronic headache disorders, including clinical trials that evaluate the efficacy of behavioral treatments and examine predictors of response to, and mechanisms of action of behavioral treatments. His publications include over 150 articles and book chapters on headache. Dr. Holroyd served as co-director of the Headache Treatment & Research Clinics and on Panels, NIH Study Sections, Editorial Boards, and Boards of Directors. His hobbies include scuba diving an acquiring (and drinking) interesting wines.
