Sustainable Development dialogues<br />
Organised by the Government of Brazil<br />
The Government of Brazil is convening a Sustainable Development Dialogue series with the aim of<br />
bringing together civil society, public and private sectors, the scientific community and academia to<br />
contribute ideas and suggestions on sustainable development. Conclusions and<br />
recommendations from the Dialogues will be conveyed directly to the heads of State and<br />
Government gathering in Rio June 20-22. These dialogues which have already started online<br />
will culminate in a live event in Rio from 16 – 18 June prior to the UN Conference.<br />
This is a unique opportunity to participate in some or all of the Dialogues, which focus on<br />
ten themes at the heart of sustainable development:<br />
16 June<br />
10h00 to 13h30: Unemployment, decent work and migrations<br />
14h30 to 18h00: Sustainable development as an answer to the economic and financial crises<br />
18h30 to 22h00: Sustainable development for fighting poverty<br />
June 17<br />
10h00 to 13h30: The economics of sustainable development, including sustainable patterns of<br />
production and consumption<br />
14h30 to 18h00: Forests<br />
18h30 to 22h00: Food and nutrition security<br />
June 18<br />
10h00 to 13h30: Sustainable energy for all<br />
14h30 to 18h00: Water<br />
18h30 to 22h00: Sustainable cities and innovation<br />
June 19<br />
10h00 to 13h30: Oceans<br />

and request an invitation. Once you have joined you have access to all the dialogues where you<br />
are encouraged to take part in discussions by posting recommendations and comments as well as<br />
sharing link to important documents by using the “add” function. As a participant you have access<br />
to “key reference documents” informing the dialogues and you can connect to other participants<br />
interested in the same themes.<br />
