National membership organisations and peak bodies APRA and AMCOS The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) collects and distributes licence fees for the public performance and communication of its members’ musical works. The Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) collects and distributes mechanical royalties for the reproduction of its members’ musical works. — www.apra-amcos.com.au Ausdance Ausdance is Australia’s professional dance advocacy organisation. — www.ausdance.org.au Australia Council for the Arts The Australia Council for the Arts is the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. The Australia Council cultivates the nation’s creativity by investing in artists and arts organisations working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, community partnerships, dance, literature, music, theatre, visual arts and multi-artform practices. — www.australiacouncil.gov.au Australia Council for the Arts - indigenous protocols The Australia Council has produced five guides that cover protocols for producing Indigenous Australian media arts, music, performing arts, visual arts and writing. — www.australiacouncil.gov.au Australian Performing Arts Centres Association (APCA) APCA is the national peak body representing and supporting performing arts centres. They also support the development of performing arts in general throughout Australia with a rapidly growing associate membership including producing companies, touring organisations and funding bodies.
