Mark your calendars for October 22-23, 2011
for an exciting touring event to Reno.
We leave the Sacramento area Saturday morning for a back roads tour over two-lane roads, through old
gold mining towns, along beautiful rivers, and across the high plateau on top of the Sierra Nevada
Mountains. These are wonderful Porsche roads, full of
scenic beauty and driving challenges.
Upon arriving in Reno, we have a discounted block of
rooms reserved at the newly-remodeled Siena Hotel right on
the Truckee River in downtown Reno. We will have secured,
reserved outdoor parking. The Siena features a full casino,
and spa with many lounges and entertainment. The Siena is
within walking distance of all the gaming and entertainment
of downtown Reno...and across the street from the National
Automobile Museum (the old Harrah collection).
Cocktails and dinner Saturday night will be held in the galleries
of the National Automobile Museum. A no-host, cash bar will
be set up inside the gallery so that you can enjoy the collection
as you sip your favorite beverage in a truly memorable setting. A
catered dinner will be served in the gallery, amidst the collection.
The museum will be open only to our group during these evening
hours. After dinner, you can stroll the collection, or partake of
the gaming and nightlife in downtown Reno.
After breakfast on Sunday morning, we depart for a scenic trip up
the mountain to Virginia City. We have a tour scheduled of an old historic gold mine after which you can
stroll the wooden sidewalks and explore the shops and rustic charm of this historic town. The tour formally
ends in Virginia City. The participants can continue to enjoy Virginia City and Lake Tahoe and then choose
their own route back home.
