Village Development Action Plan – TURUK RAMABUNG Step 2: Figure out best practices, success stories, important problems and their causes Best practices / Success stories: The Reserve Forests are well protected and hence they are dense. The forests are rich in fauna as well. Problems Causes 1. Wild animal encroachment into human habitation. 2. The survival of saplings is average to poor. 3. Lack of maintenance after plantation. Step 3: Find out possible solutions for the three problems Solutions Timely plantation and adequate maintenance required. Government regulations on wildlife protection and not enough food for animals in the forests. Untimely plantation and scarce rainfall. No follow up activities after plantation, for e.g. timely weeding, vigil etc. Proper vigil is to be maintained to curb the cases of encroachment and occurrence of forest fires The JFMC should be activated and made aware of their duties and responsibilities The Department of Forests and Wildlife should convene time to time meetings with the locals and assess the prevalent situation Step 4: Identify relevant activities to tackle the problems or to expand the success stories (Attention: it is important to rank the priority of the activities) Activity Unit Quantity Location Fencing - - Plantation 30 Ha.
