The Customs Museum Friedrichs<br />
is a vivid centre in memory of<br />
the European border history.<br />
Approximately 3,000 exhibits<br />
show the history of customs<br />
and their development from<br />
the source of income to the<br />
protection of the local economy.<br />
This includes documents of the<br />
so-called “sinful border” during<br />
the Fifties, when customs officers<br />
and smugglers put up chases<br />
with ingenious expedients. In<br />
addition forbidden souvenirs e.g.<br />
stuffed bears, croc bags, ivory,<br />
snakeskin and evidences of<br />
trademark piracy can be seen.<br />
