A successful management structure • High level support from university authorities of the hub and other partner universities • Agreed upon, transparent, management structure (VLIR-UOS guidelines translated into partner specific management agreements) => management manual and procedures • Support structure – programme support unit – is put in place at the “hub” university and has a clear set of operating procedures under the leadership of a local Network Programme coordinator • Good Communication at all level: using the “common sense”, transparency • Respect for deadlines and agreements: timely submission of plans, reports, organisation of mobility and procedures for purchase of goods • Common focus/group spirit => focus on common development goal & key result areas • Include stakeholders early in the process but be realistic in planning of extension results=> gradual process but important to know what lives in society in order to work towards results with societal benefits => multi-stakeholder platforms university cooperation for development sharing minds, changing lives 22
