From the loading points (slow and quick) and their intelligent interaction with the electrical network, to the advanced combined communication, management 142 and billing systems, the entire system was developed with a focus on the citizen, systematically integrating economic, energy and environmental aspects associated with mobility of each user. • Achieving third place in the Sustainable Development Award 2009, awarded by Heidrick & Struggles. Efacec was placed among the top fi ve companies awarded the prize, out of a total of 200 organisations in competition. The selection of winning candidates (BES, Portugal Telecom, Efacec, BCP and BP Portugal) was based on the triple bottom line management philosophy, which analyses sustainability based on three aspects: social, environmental and management. The applications were analyzed by an advisory committee that included representatives from the business sector and the academic world. This was the fi rst time Efacec participated in the award, obtaining 84.6% against a multinational average of 81.2% (the category in which Efacec was included). •
• The distinction, with an honourable mention, in the second edition of the Innovation Product Award, organised by COTEC and Unicer. During the ceremony held on 3 June, 2009, Efacec received an honourable mention, presented by the Portuguese President, Mr. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, as a result of its application with a solution developed by its Automation Unit, SmartGate. This solution is a LV/MV Transformer Substation controller and it is one of the many Efacec solutions helping to reduce the carbon footprint. • The winning of the Premio Suministradores Iberdrola 2009 (Iberdola Supplier of the Year Award) for the category Corporate Social Responsibility, an achievement that was announced by the quality and environment management of Iberdrola. • The achievement of RDI certifi cation according to NP4457:200, by the High and Medium-Voltage Switchgear Business Unit. Managing Research, Development and Innovation, present in aspects of the product, process, marketing and organisational areas, 143 was the challenge launched to the R&D, marketing and planning teams, supported by the innovation team.
