Office of Community Partnerships and Practice
From the Desk of Sonda Oppewal
Associate Dean for Community Partnerships and Practice
Welcome to this new edition of Adjunct Faculty
Community Connections! This newsletter highlights the
achievements, appointments, and reappointments of our
adjunct faculty members so our SON faculty and adjunct
faculty can become better acquainted and form stronger
partnerships. We greatly appreciate the rich diversity of
expertise and the many contributions that our approximately
140 adjunct faculty members bring to the SON. Adjunct
faculty members contribute to every aspect of our School’s
mission by giving numerous volunteer hours in various roles such as clinical
preceptors, lecturers, curriculum or project consultants, committee members,
and research partners.
I greatly appreciate Sue Snyder’s work on creating this newsletter and
for all of her work with processing adjunct faculty member appointments and
reappointments and all related documents. A list of adjunct faculty members is
at http://nursing.unc.edu/departments/outreach/adjunct.html. If you would
like to know all of the adjunct faculty members that we have by a specific
clinical area, just send Sue or I a note and we can send that information to you.
Or, if you would like a read-only version of the adjunct faculty database on your
desktop computer, just let us know and we will submit
that request.
For those who serve as a partnering faculty
member to our adjunct faculty members--thank you!
We rely on the communication you maintain with your
adjunct faculty member so that person knows how best
to contribute to the mission of our school and be
involved actively on an ongoing basis.
Unless we hear otherwise, we plan on sending out a similar newsletter
twice a year with adjunct faculty member achievements, new appointments,
and reappointments. Please send us your feedback on this newsletter or your
suggestions to better strengthen the partnerships we have with our adjunct
faculty members. Our adjunct faculty members want to be involved, they want
to participate on committees or other projects, and they welcome the
opportunity to give their time and talents to our school!
To strong partnerships!
Sonda Oppewal and Sue Snyder
