SHAFER VINEYARDS 2001 1,5L
CABERNET SAUVIGNON SUNSPOT
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
WS93: A rich and seductive style, with smooth,
buttery, toasty oak paving the way for a ripe, plush,
generous serving of chocolate-covered currant and
cherry fruit. Elegant and stylish, it glides along on
the finish before the ripe, fleshy tannins become
evident. Only available to members of the Hillside
Select list. F: IN; E: leicht beschädigt. (912677)
BEAULIEU VINEYARD 1985 1,5L
GEORGES LATOUR PRIVATE RES.
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP87: A politically correct, safely made Cabernet
Sauvignon with enough spice, fruit, body, acidity,
and alcohol, but little in the way of thrills or excitement.
F: IN; E: leicht verschmutzt und minimal
beschädigt. (915166)
CAYMUS 1982 0,75L
CABERNET SAUV. SPECIAL SEL.
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
WS90: Ripe, foward style with loads of plum,
anise, cherry, vanilla and spice flavors that are well
defined and has got depth. It’s also got a wallop of
tannin and very good structure. Built for the long
haul. F: BON; E: verschmutzt. (915183)
RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
FREESTONE STATION PINOT NOIR
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP94: The 2009 Pinot Noir Freestone Station boasts
an impressively saturated ruby/purple color along
with a glorious perfume of black raspberries, forest
floor, earth and sweet cherry jam. Good minerality
and floral notes also make an appearance in this
complex, medium to full-bodied, elegant yet loaded
Pinot. It should evolve for a decade or more. Sadly,
only 150 cases were produced. F: 0,3cm; E: sehr
gut. (9129119)
RUSSIAN RIVER UMINO PINOT NOIR
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP91+: The deep ruby/purple-colored 2009 Pinot
Noir Umino cuts a deeper, broader mouthfeel. It
reveals sweet raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed
with hints of earth, spice and largely ob -
scured oak as well as tangy acids, which seem to
be a hallmark of this vintage. F: HF; E: sehr gut.
GEMSTONE 1997 0,75L
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
WS90: Resilient color with a slight copper hue.
Blackberry, cranberry, and ripe red berries combine
with floral notes. The tannins have relaxed, reaching
maturity. Mineral characters lead to a complete
finish with nice acidity. Soft and powerful. !
Jos. Phelps Insignia
JOS. PHELPS INSIGNIA 1993 0,75L
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP94, WS90: A dense, compact, earthy style that
definitely needs decanting, with firm, chalky tannins
wrapped around a core of earth, tar, leather, mulch
and currant. Finishes with mineral and earth flavors
that start to grow on you. Can age another decade.
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
WS94, RP97: The 1995 is a wine of extraordinary
extraction, full body, and marvelously pure fruit.
Moreover, it has managed to soak up the 100%
new oak aging, leaving only subtle pain grille notes.
WS94, RP97: The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon
Insignia is a towering, statuesque wine bursting
with blackberry jam, tar, spices, leather and licorice.
It shows fabulous depth and richness backed up by
serious, imposing tannins that suggest it has a long
life. F: IN; E: sehr gut. (912996)
LA JOTA VINEYARD CO. 1993 0,75L
HOWELL MOUNTAIN SELECTION
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP92-95: The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell
Mountain Selection may prove to be superior to the
excellent 1992 and 1991. It exhibits an opaque
black/purple color, and a huge nose of spicy oak,
licorice, black-raspberries, and black-cherries. The
wine possesses great density, richness, and
ripeness, as well as a full-bodied, moderately tannic
finish. F: IN-BON; E: 1x minimal verschmutzt,
HOWELL MOUNTAIN SELECTION
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
RP93: The wine is full-bodied, with an opaque purple
color, as well as potentially sweeter, more upfront
fruit than the Anniversary Release. It is
opulent, aromatic black fruits, truffles, earth, and
spice galore, and fleshy, but it boasts plenty of tannin.
ALEXANDER VALLEY RESERVE
(KALIFORNIEN, USA)
SED18,3/20. RP90: A, full-bodied, and supple,
with outstanding concentration, adequate acidity,
and a fleshy, glycerin-imbued, alcoholic finish, this
terrific 1974 appears to have hit its peak, but it
reveals no signs of decline. Bravo! 1981 abgefüllt.
Absoluter Kultjahrgang in den USA, vergleichbar in
Langlebigkeit und Qualität mit 1959 in Bordeaux.
