POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
WS95, RP95: The 2001 Petrus (2,160 cases produced)
exhibits more depth and richness than any
other Pomerol I tasted. Rich, full-bodied, and surprisingly
thick as well as intense, there is plenty of
structure underlying the wealth of fruit and extract.
-2027. F: IN; E: sehr gut. (894129)
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
WS99, RP98: The 1998 Petrus is unquestionably
a fabulous effort boasting a dense plum/purple
color as well as an extraordinary nose of black fruits
intermixed with caramel, mocha, and vanilla. Exceptionally
pure, super-concentrated, and extremely
full-bodied. F: IN; E: leicht verschmutzt. (894135)
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
WS94, GAB18/20, RP92: The 1996 Petrus is a big,
monolithic, foursquare wine with an impressively
opaque purple color, and sweet berry fruit intermixed
with earth, pain grille, and coffee scents. Full-bodied
and muscular, with high levels of tannin, and a
backward style, this wine will require patience. It is
a mammoth example. -2035. F: IN; E: minimal
verschmutzt, minimalst beschädigt. (892912)
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
SED17.5/20, GAB16/20, RP89: The 1980 Petrus
turned in a surprisingly strong performance. A
roasted herb, melted road tar, and sweet, jammyscented
nose is followed by a rich, medium to fullbodied
wine with considerable length.
F: BON-VTS; E: gut. (91402)
CH. PETRUS 1973 0,75L
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
RP90: It offers a surprisingly intense, spicy, sweet,
mocha, and black-cherry-scented nose, medium to
full body, admirable fruit and purity, and a long,
lush, super-soft finish displaying a trace of herbs
and tea. This generously-endowed, velvety-textured
wine has been fully mature for nearly two decades,
yet it exhibits no signs of decline - rather amazing!
Pure Perfection
790
CH. PETRUS 1961 0,75L
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
B(94)*****, GAB20/20, RP100: Not surprisingly,
the 1961 Petrus was pure perfection. This fully
mature wine possesses a port-like richness (reminiscent
of the 1947 Petrus and 1947 Cheval Blanc).
Extremely full-bodied, with huge amounts of glycerin
and alcohol, this unctuously-textured, thick wine
makes for an awesome mouthful. Imagine a
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup laced with layers of
coffee and cherry, and encased in a shell of
Valrhona chocolate! Château Etikett mit Mme
Edmond Loubat, proprietaire a Pomerol, die damalige
Besitzerin des Weingutes. Es ist ihr letzter
Jahrgang, denn Madame Loubat verstarb 1961.
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
GAB20/20, B(94)*****, CC19.5/20, HACH3/3,
RP93, WS96: A monumental wine, with lots of
structure. Not quite as great as the 1961, but classic
just the same. Medium ruby-garnet in color, with
black olive and chocolate aromas. Full-bodied, with
full, hard tannins and a very long, tough finish. Abf.
Edmond Loubat. F: HS; E: kellergrau, beschädigt.
CH. PETRUS 1949 0,7L
POMEROL AC
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
WS98, B(90)****, RP95-100: While variable, the
1949 has always been a huge, thick, chewy,
immense wine without the unctuosity and port-like
quality of the 1947 or 1950. The wine has begun
to display the huge, exotic, fleshiness of Petrus, as
well as marvelously pure, plum, black-cherry,
mocha, and coffee-flavored fruit. It is developing
well and remains remarkably youthful for a 45-year
old wine. Sanders Etikett, belgische Abfüllung. Aus
unserem belgischen Adelskeller. Reifes, intensives
Granatapfelrot, Depot. F: MS; E: verschmutzt.
