(SÜDAFRIKA)
JP4.5/5, WS89: This is softening now, with mulled
plum and fig notes laced with hints of tobacco,
MEERLUST RUBICON 2001 0,75L
(SÜDAFRIKA)
Der Kultwein aus Südafrika! JP4.5/5, WS89:
Mature, yet still dark in color, with notes of iron,
raisin, tar, fig and rose petal. Grainy in texture, this
lacks modern-day vivacity, but has guts, length and
depth. Well done, though this Nebbiolo-like style
isn’t for everyone. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and
Cabernet Franc. F: BON; E: sehr gut. (896256)
WS89, TAN90: Sappy black cherry, mocha and
vinous and long. F: IN; E: sehr gut. (896263)
The Work of Time
SPRINGFIELD ESTATE 2001 0,75L
THE WORK OF TIME
(SÜDAFRIKA)
40% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet
Sauvignon. JP4.5/5, TAN88+: Plum, smoke and
truffle aromas, with floral and vegetal nuances.
Then smooth and smoky in the mouth, with flavors
of cherry, leather, tobacco and fresh herbs. Shows
a tart cranberry note but does not come across as
green. An intriguing, still-unfolding wine that may
yet merit a higher score.
Ch. Haut Brion
Timeless 1928
971
CH. HAUT BRION 1928 0,375L
GRAVES 1ER CRU CLASSE
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
RP97: I had mixed tasting notes on the 1928. At its
best, it is the most concentrated, port-like wine I
have ever tasted from Haut-Brion. Its huge, meaty,
tar, caramel, and jammy black fruit character is unctuously-textured.
The wine oozes out of the glass
and over the palate. In some tastings it has been
over-ripe, yet healthy and intact, but nearly bizarre
because of its exaggerated style. There is a
timeless aspect to it. F: HS; E: leicht verschmutzt,
für das Alter sehr gut. (91365)
GRAVES 1ER CRU CLASSE
(BORDEAUX, FRANKREICH)
B(00)*****, GAB16/20-19/20, RP95: Singed leather,
tobacco leaf, super-ripe fragrance that makes
Haut-Brion so distinctive. The wine is extremely
soft, revealing considerable amber and rust at the
edge, but it still possesses rich, creamy fruit and
medium to full body. Intensives reifes Granatapfelrot,
feines Depot. Im Hause zur Sicherheit Kapsel
wachsversiegelt. F: MS-LMS; E: leicht beschädigt.
