Public Awareness Committee. Ms. MacMillan is dedicated to<br />
mak<strong>in</strong>g sure that <strong>Enrolled</strong> <strong>Agents</strong> are heard and respected<br />
at all levels. She also participated <strong>in</strong> the national radio show,<br />
Money Matters with Gary Goldberg on April 13, <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
The Chapter has several other Board Members, each <strong>of</strong><br />
whom br<strong>in</strong>gs their own personality, knowledge and dedication<br />
to our Chapter! Thank you Mark Damon, EA for your<br />
disaster reports, Paula Mixon, EA for your monthly m<strong>in</strong>utes,<br />
Chuck Taylor, EA for your always humorous legislative reports,<br />
East Bay<br />
Follow<strong>in</strong>g the theme to “Stand as Beacons on the East<br />
Bay Hills,” the light from the Officers and Members <strong>of</strong> East<br />
Bay Chapter has extended from one coast to the other this<br />
year. New Members have been welcomed with an excellent<br />
orientation and have <strong>in</strong>creased attendance at monthly d<strong>in</strong>ner<br />
meet<strong>in</strong>gs and the five small group meet<strong>in</strong>gs, as well the email<br />
group that helps with questions. The monthly newsletter<br />
has <strong>in</strong>creased participation with timely articles. The fall tax<br />
sem<strong>in</strong>ar and m<strong>in</strong>i-sem<strong>in</strong>ars have all been successful f<strong>in</strong>ancially<br />
and have provided excellent cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
education (CPE) for the Members and friends <strong>of</strong> the Chapter.<br />
The success rate <strong>of</strong> those pass<strong>in</strong>g the Special Enrollment<br />
Exam<strong>in</strong>ation (SEE) as a result <strong>of</strong> our SEE Preparation class is<br />
impressive. Outreach to students at job fairs was expanded<br />
locally as well as out <strong>of</strong> state. The new Speaker Development<br />
program has resulted <strong>in</strong> opportunities to outreach to other<br />
organizations and provide them with speakers for meet<strong>in</strong>gs<br />
as well as to promote the EA designation. This <strong>in</strong>itiative is also<br />
develop<strong>in</strong>g the skills and confidence <strong>of</strong> our own Members<br />
to provide leadership with<strong>in</strong> our Chapter and beyond. The<br />
Practice Preservation group has provided counsel to retir<strong>in</strong>g<br />
EAs and deceased EA’s families. Our Members have also<br />
been <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Volunteer Income Tax Assistance<br />

and L<strong>in</strong>da Wall, EA for your outstand<strong>in</strong>g f<strong>in</strong>ancial records<br />
and management skills that have kept the Chapter under<br />
budget this year!<br />
<strong>2010</strong>-<strong>2011</strong> has been a great year for our Chapter and I am<br />
proud to serve as the President and work with all <strong>of</strong> these<br />
wonderful people.<br />

the Internal Revenue Service/Employment Development<br />
Department (IRS/EDD) program.<br />
On a larger scale the East Bay Member <strong>in</strong>volvement <strong>in</strong><br />
CSEA’s Jim Stern Legislative Day was impressive, as well as<br />
the many Chairs <strong>of</strong> Chapter committees that regularly attend<br />
and serve on CSEA committees. CSEA’s current President is a<br />
Member <strong>of</strong> East Bay Chapter and East Bay’s current President<br />
is Chair <strong>of</strong> CSEA’s Ethics & Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Conduct Committee.<br />
Several Members have contributed articles to CSEA publications<br />
and the Chapter was honored with the cover and article<br />
<strong>in</strong> the September <strong>2010</strong> <strong>California</strong> <strong>Enrolled</strong> Agent. Two CSEA<br />
Past Presidents still serve actively at CSEA and one served<br />
as a Member <strong>of</strong> the NAEA Board <strong>of</strong> Directors. One <strong>of</strong> our<br />
Members is very active on NAEA’s Political Action Committee.<br />
The Chapter has reached out to Big Valley Chapter to co-host<br />
CSEA’s 2013 Annual Meet<strong>in</strong>g and cont<strong>in</strong>ues to cooperate with<br />
other Chapters <strong>in</strong> host<strong>in</strong>g the annual Town Hall Meet<strong>in</strong>g. Our<br />
Public Information & Awareness outreach with other Chapters,<br />
us<strong>in</strong>g radio advertis<strong>in</strong>g this year, has been very successful.<br />
