Auto-discovery of
ENG devices
XEDIO Dispatcher dynamically recognizes each plugged-in SD or
HD ENG devices, being Sony XDCAM, XDCAM EX, Panasonic
P2, Canon or JVC camcorders, cards or disks’ readers - and
instantly displays all the recorded media with their related metadata
(clip name, thumbnail, Time In, Time Out, and clip duration).
All these clips are instantly available for reviewing with simple
thumbnail selection.
Instant Media Access
without file duplication
Because the media are made available directly from the ENG
device, there is no need for media duplication, or for any
transcoding/rewrapping process; the XEDIO Dispatcher operator
can instantly browse into all clips and media created by the
shooting team. Thanks to the XEDIO Dispatcher intuitive interface,
the operator can choose amongst the hours of clips displayed in
thumbnails page. A user friendly player can be used to review every
sequences of a clip available on the ENG If proxy available in the
source device, Xedio Dispatcher uses the low-resolution to fasten
the workflow.
Full Virtual Clipping
and Storyboarding
The operator has the possibility to create sub-clips using IN and
OUT tags in the XEDIO Dispatcher directly available in the player
interface. Since XEDIO Dispatcher is offering full virtual actions, the
clip creation is a simple and smooth operation that does not require
any rendering operation or waiting time. New clips are instantly ready
for transfer and can be reviewed in the player. XEDIO Dispatcher
offers an easy and efficient way for journalists and shooting crews
to consolidate their rough cut edits immediately after shooting :
using XEDIO Dispatcher’s intuitive graphical interface, the operator
can drag and drop selected
clips or sub-clips into the
storyboard timeline to create
a consolidated rough cut edit.
Virtual clips, rough cut edits
and playlists are then ready to
be transferred for playout or
further production operations.
On-the-spot Logging
Operations
Keywords’ grids and log sheets can be easily imported from
EVS’ IPDirector database into XEDIO Dispatcher, enabling
logging of the selected clips or consolidated storyboard.
Created logs (metadata, rratings, keywords…) are visible as
locators on the timeline in XEDIO Dispatcher’s player view.
Play or edit while
transfer
Once the transfer has been initiated, the next process can
be initiated without waiting the total completion : playout on
XT[2]+ or XS servers can begin while transferring, or edition by
post-production.
High-Speed Media
Transfer and Export
Up to the transfer time, all the operations described above (media
review and selection, sub-clipping, storyboarding, logging) have
been purely virtual with no time lost in file transfer, rewrapping,
or transcoding.
At transfer time, XEDIO Dispatcher transfers material from the
source(s), performing on-the-fly sub-clipping, consolidation, and
intelligent conformation to the specified target codec and file wrapper.
The latter are specified in ‘output profiles’, also supporting the
simultaneous creation of multiple files to different destinations.

production servers, IPDirector
nearline storage or to Avid storage

Seamless integration
with IPDirector
The clips can be directly managed by IPDirector if dropped on
its nearline. It is also possible to export high-resolution and lowresolution
media to IPDirector.
