Mount Desert Island Hospital is where my family and I receive care, and where I serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees. This really is “my Hospital.” As you’ll read in this report, many people can make that claim, for a lot of different reasons. Everyday the Hospital helps people regain and improve their health. It provides professional opportunity and job fulfillment. The Hospital offers people a variety of ways to serve and support their community. MDI Hospital also provides access to care that keeps families healthy and prevents illness from taking lives too soon. This report provides only a small sample of the ways people connect to and benefit from their Hospital. MDI Hospital and others like it are also the only source of primary care that keeps chronic disease at bay. The Hospital provides millions of dollars each year in free and uncompensated care, and subsidizes health services that help keep our friends and neighbors fit and healthy.
