Forcible Rape, as defined in the Uniform
Crime Report Program is the carnal
knowledge of a person forcibly and
against their will. Assaults or attempts
to commit rape by force or threat of force
are also included.; however, statutory
rape (without force) and other sex offenses
are excluded.
• In 2002, 52 offenses of rape were reported
to the Wyoming Police Department.
• Based upon a population of 70,000,
the adjusted rape rate for the City of
Wyoming was 74.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.
• The 2001 national average rape rate
for cities outside metropolitan areas
was 67.7 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Geographically, the Midwest rape
rate was 68 per 100,000; while the
U.S. rate was 62.7 per 100,000 inhabitants.
• The 2002 WYPD rape rate was 17
percent lower than 2001.
• The 2002 WYPD rape rate is 21 percent
lower than the 1995 rate.
