of verdigris, very fine. £150-180<br />

530 Germany / Northern Europe, 16 th Century(?) Cast<br />

Oval Gilt-bronze Medal, the Madonna in prayer<br />

below canopy, rev man kneels to receive a crown<br />

or laurel from a figure accompanied by a cherub,<br />

an acanthus border both sides, 35mm x 30mm<br />

(Weber -), perhaps a secondary cast, the gilding rich,<br />

very fine; other medal squeezes <strong>and</strong> electrotypes<br />

(6), including for the Societé Philomatique, mixed<br />

instituted 1765, by C Voigt, Victory with wreath, by<br />

century restrike, edge stamped COPIE (Br 132;<br />

with tiny light surface marks, otherwise both attractive<br />

535 Martin Georg Kovachich (1743-1821), 70 th Birthday,<br />

Bronze Medal, 1813, by H Karl, bust left wearing<br />

fur-trimmed coat, rev legend in wreath, 44.5mm.<br />

Kovachich was the curator / librarian at the University of Pest.<br />

He was to donate 300 folios of manuscripts to the National<br />

Museum of Hungary.
