Data exchange with EPLAN
Product selection entails transferring
the data from EPLAN; there is no need
for manual inputs.
All project information already contained
in EPLAN, such as the nominal
cross-section of the cables used, terminal
strips and terminal designations, is
transferred directly. Clip Select plans,
checks and completes the corresponding
terminal strips automatically and
writes the data into the EPLAN parts
list. Functions have been integrated into
EPLAN 5.30 and EPLAN 21 in order to
maximise these potential savings. Data
exchange with other CAE programs is
supported via an Excel interface. To
this end, a spreadsheet containing the
relevant project information can be
read directly in Clip Select. The software
then plans complete terminal
strips using the data available. All data
generated is transferred back into the
CAE system in the same way.
Savings with purchasing and
warehousing
With ever-tighter deadlines and increasingly
restrictive budgets, there is
often a great deal of pressure to cut
expenditure on warehousing and logistics.
In this respect, potential savings
can be achieved by minimising the
number of different components used.
This means that the range of products
used can be effectively controlled at the
start of the value-added chain, i.e. at
the project planning stage. The product
database can be individually structured
on the basis of commercial and technical
aspects, thanks to user-friendly project
planning tools. Each project automatically
has selective access to those
products which have been pre-defined
as „preferred models“. Clip Select allows
users to enter product-specific
material numbers for each item. Additionally,
user-specific notes can be assigned
to products in a comments box.
Product data updates
via the Internet
The Internet provides an efficient
means of exchanging information and
data. Product information and software
updates are available from the Phoenix
Contact website. The product data used
in Clip Select can be updated at any
time via the Internet. One click takes
you to the website, where data on new
products is available for immediate
project planning.
