Why are there so many
different types of rocks?
How are rocks formed?
Are fossils rocks? What
are they anyway?
This camp is all about our
wonderful earth and it’s
amazing formation.
We will make our own
fossils and geodes,
explore the forces at work
in rock formation and
Lego Robotics
Use a handheld GPS unit
to find hidden treasures.
Learn how they work and
pinpoint your exact
location in this world on a
map. Participate in a
variety of adventures as
we learn the inner
workings of this
technology. We will also
discover how our
community and the
mid-Columbia region was
formed.
We will also take a field
trip to the Fossil School to
dig and collect our own
fossils!
Build a robot and
program it! Using Lego
Robot kits you will build
robots and program them
to move and act as you
want. This camp will meet
the learning needs of both
beginner and advanced
level robot builders.
Geospatial Technology (GPS)
explore
GIS
mapping
technology
as we
learn how
to create
our own
maps!
Physics of Amusement Parks
Amusement Parks… what
fun! As you are zooming
round and round and up
and down on super fun
rides, have you ever
thought, “How do these
things work? Why am I
Renewable Energy
Three days of exploration
of wind, hydro and solar
energy. How does water,
wind and the sun create
energy? What is energy
anyway? And furthermore,
how do we harness
that energy and transform
it into electricity?
heart in your throat and
your stomach somewhere
near your shoes, while
keeping you quite safe.
This camp explores
potential and kinetic
energy and centrifugal
force as you design and
test your own creation.
Includes field trip to the
Pendleton Water Park.
Field trips to the dam and
Photography
A picture is worth a
thousand words. And
every picture tells a story!
In the morning you will
learn the basics of digital
photography including
how to use your camera to
its fullest potential. You
will also learn good
photography techniques
and tips for getting that
perfect picture.
Art in the Garden
Close your eyes. Imagine
you are in a garden. It is a
beautiful summer
morning. You hear the
buzzing of bees and the
gentle rustle of leaves.
The aromatic scent of
flowers, herbs and
vegetables tickle your
nose.
Kitchen Science
Now this is fun science!
Did you know that the
process of cooking and
preserving foods uses
fundamentals of science?
We will cook up basic
science process skills as
we investigate food
science.
Then you will apply your
knowledge and skills in an
exciting photo scavenger
hunt. Bring your own
camera!
In the afternoon you will
explore photo
manipulation software as
you turn your
basic photo
into a work of
art.
Your eyes are entertained
by the pallet of color
bursting from all around
you.
In one hand is a paint
brush and the other grips
paper. Your heart and
brain are working in
tandem as you begin to
Example: milk. This
seemingly benign liquid is
actually an
amazing quick
change artist,
able to quickly
reform itself into
butter, yogurt,
ice cream, and
cheese through
simple science.
