Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD Editor-in-Chief As the official journal of the World Heart Federation, CVD Prevention and Control (formerly “Prevention and Control”, now re-launched under a new title) continues to provide a forum for dialogue and education on matters relating to the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases worldwide, with a special focus on countries with middle and lower economies. Now in its fourth year of publication, the response to this new niche journal has been very encouraging. In line with the mission of the World Heart Federation, CVD Prevention and Control has become a priority journal for all who wish to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in cardiovascular diseases CVDand to help halt the spread of this epidemic worldwide. Prevention and CVD Prevention and Control Control is organizing a Writers’ Workshop during the World Congress of Cardiology 2008 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This half day workshop is primarily intended for those from developing countries who want to publish in scientific journals. Participants will receive information on how to organize and write a manuscript for publication as well as information on how manuscripts are processed through the Elsevier Electronic system. The aim and scope of the journal will be discussed and a part of the session will be focused on interactions with a successful writer. This workshop is being held on Monday, May 19, 2008 from 9.30 –12.30. The number of participants is limited to 40. On Monday, 19 May at 13.30, Andy Wielgosz, the Editorin-Chief of CVD Prevention and Control will be holding a “Meet the Editor” session at the World Heart Federation booth. This is an opportunity for you to discuss the journal and find out how you can submit a paper to the journal.
