Are there any side-effects?
No, the treatment’s not dangerous, and there are no real
side-effects. After the treatment, mild erythema is possible,
which disappears by the next day.
Is the effect permanent?
Follicles treated with laser successfully won’t produce hair
any more. But for this follicles have to be treated in their
active stage.
Why do I have to repeat the treatment?
Laser treatment only affects hair follicles in their anagen or
the active growth phase, blocking their activity. Follicles
in their inactive phase turn active a couple weeks later –
this is why treatment has to be repeated 6-8 weeks later.
Usually 4-8 treatments are necessary for all your active
follicles being inactivated by the laser.
Why can’t I sunbathe or go to the solarium before
and between the treatments?
It’s important for your skin not to be pigmented – the
bigger the difference between the color of your skin and
hair, the more effective the treatment. The browner your
skin, the more the energy of the laser used has to be decreased,
thus making the treatment less effective. But you
don’t have to go all white of course – just go for UV-free
tanning.
