CENTRE ON HuAIHAI ROAD, THE CITY’s OTHER PRINCIPAL sHOPPING sTREET.
This major shopping mall in downtown shanghai was
underperforming despite being located on the prestigious Huaihai
road commercial strip. since its opening in 1999, the centre has
undergone a number of ‘facelifts’, however, these didn’t improve
the shopping experience.
We were commissioned by the client to provide complete interior,
exterior and landscape design services in order to enhance this part
of their property portfolio.
The dynamic graphics of
the façade create a strong
identity for the centre.
The refurbishment was undertaken in phases to allow for
continuity of trade, gradually improving the centre’s efficiency,
visibility and clarity.
The central atrium and its skylight were rediscovered and softened
by stretched fabric awnings, the circulation was simplified and the
exterior was brightened by tasteful, concealed LeD lighting zones.
The project was completed in December 2009 within budget
and on time, attracting new international tenants such as muji,
sephora and H&m.
