ENSACO TM conductive carbon blacks
should be a key ingredient of your formulations
Since 1982, our plant has been producing a specific range of carbon blacks to serve the battery, power cable, plastics, rubber and paint industries.
The plant, located in Belgium, Willebroek, uses the most modern technology and has succeeded in becoming a recognized worldwide
supplier of high quality carbon blacks.
The production process, namely ‘MMM process’, is based on the partial oxidation of a carefully selected high purity petrochemical feedstock.
It differs from the furnace process mainly by its aerodynamic and thermodynamic conditions, especially the low gas velocities, leading to
nearly grit-free carbon blacks. Neither water nor any other quenching additive is injected to reduce the temperature. Neither water nor any
other binding additive is used during the granulation step, which guarantees very low sulphur, low ash and very low ionic contamination.
Our proprietary granulation process leads to soft, flake-like granules, characterised by homogeneous and very low crushing strength ensuring
an outstanding dispersibility and the absence of bigger and harder agglomerates.
To a certain extent, ENSACO carbon blacks are combining the properties of acetylene and furnace blacks, but overall production conditions
result into the synthesis of unique types of carbon blacks.
Main features
Specialty carbon blacks produced by TIMCAL BELGIUM are socalled
‘conductive carbon blacks’ having a high level of
structure with chain-like aggregates. These enable the building
of a conductive network in polymers at low to very low carbon
black levels. The various ENSACO carbon blacks differ by their
specific surface area, structure level and stability. They offer a
good protection against electrostatic discharges and electromagnetic
interferences. As an example, good balance of properties
is achieved with:
ENSACOTM 250 G
• conductive carbon black
• low surface area and high structure
• easily dispersible
• high purity
• low water absorption
• low cure inhibition
• suitable for most polymer applications
