+ Session 1-- Display Executive Keynote Session
This session will feature presentations from executives at a number of the leading display manufacturers on the
outlook for the display industry. They will address questions such as whether the size of the display industry has
already peaked, whether growth will return to the display industry and what will drive a return to healthy
growth and profitability in the display market. Does the current industry structure lend itself to profitable
returns for shareholders or are structural changes required? They will also discuss how they are addressing
challenges and opportunities in China. Following their presentations, a panel session will be held moderated by
IMS Research consultant and DisplaySearch founder and former CEO Ross Young.
• Yoshiaki Tamura, GM of Display General Division, President of Electronics Company, Asahi Glass
• John P. Bayne, Jr., VP & GM, High Performance Displays, Corning
• Sri Peruvemba, Chief Marketing Officer, E Ink
• Xu Ouyang, VP Sales & Marketing, Tianma
• Dr. Mike Hack, GM, OLED Lighting & Custom Displays, Universal Displays
• Session Q&A
+ Session 2 – Do OLEDs and Oxide TFTs Change the Display Market Outlook?
OLEDs deliver significant improvements in contrast ratio, black levels, response times, form factor and 3D
performance, but have suffered from significantly higher manufacturing costs due to the need for a LTPS
backplane which is also marked by limitations in manufacturing capacity. With improvements in oxide TFT
stability, OLEDs would be able to leverage the lower cost and abundant a-Si capacity, resulting in higher
prices and lower costs for display manufacturers. What is timing for oxide TFT-based OLEDs and how far
along are manufacturers in overcoming other challenges associated with scaling OLEDs to larger substrates?
This session will include presentations as well as a panel session.
• Barry Young, Managing Director, OLED Association
• Yasuhiro Ukai, Principal, Ukai Display Device Institute
• Bruce Berkoff, Chief Marketing Officer, CBRITE
+ Session 3 – Other Game Changing Innovations Improving the Display Market Outlook
This session will examine other game changing innovations that could impact the display market outlook, either
growing demand or reducing costs. Potential topics include passive glasses 3D, glasses-free 3D, high
resolution displays, new touch solutions, alternative display technologies such as MEMS, electrowetting,
quantum dot LEDs and backlights and more.
• Wei Lung Liau, AVP of Display Technology Development Center, AUO
