Overview
This Qualification Specification (Optional Units) for the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and
Young People’s Workforce is an extension of the Qualification Specification for the Diploma.
The Qualification Specification contains the guidance details and unit information for the
mandatory units for the Diploma. This document contains the optional units.
The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) envisage the Diploma will have
additional optional units added to it in the future to enable people entering the children’s
workforce to be efficiently equipped with the required knowledge and skills. These optional
units, along with those already confirmed, will be added to this document.
NB: Although the units within the Early Learning and Childcare, Social Care and Learning,
Development and Support Services pathways are mandatory, they are also optional units.
However, the learner cannot again choose the units from their chosen pathway as optional
units.
Generic information covered in the Qualification Specification is not repeated in this document.
