➥ Hull War Risk Insurance Listed Areas
The Sub-Committee continued to monitor the
Lloyds’ Joint War Committee (JWC) Hull War,
Strikes, Terrorism and Related Perils Listed Areas.
Following the JWC’s revision of the list to include
waters beyond the eastern Somalia coast and
Gulf of Aden areas out to 600 nautical miles, the
Sub-Committee agreed that it would be necessary
for individual owners and operators to decide if it
might be more prudent for them to deviate their
ships from the Gulf of Aden and to sail round the
Cape of Good Hope.
The Sub-Committee further agreed that it would be
necessary for owners, operators, charterers and their
respective P & I Clubs to determine who should bear
the additional costs that might arise from such a
deviation or if a ship should be hijacked and held for
ransom.
