3. International Symposium on Complications in GI Endoscopy
4
Let's talk about it –
again!
Dear friends and colleagues,
Being committed endoscopists, we are all concerned that even minor
invasive procedures may have side effects which might result in a socalled
complication. The constant evolution, not only of imaging but
also of invasive or surgical concepts, requires a permanent process of
reflection.
As in previous years, the aims of the symposium are to
identify critical incidents and complications
communicate unforeseen events
develop strategies to avoid or minimise complications
demonstrate therapeutical measures for the eventuality of a
complication
which we will discuss under technical, procedural, ethical, psychological
and legal aspects.
A highlight of our symposium will be the state-of-the-art
lecture by Prof. Christopher Williams. Christopher Williams
is not only a globally reputed developer of endoscopic
techniques but also the grandseigneur of colonoscopy.
We are honoured that Christopher Williams accepted our
invitation and allows us to share his lifelong experiences
during his lecture on quality and safety in colonoscopy.

28-29 June 2013
Honorary president of the 3. International Symposium on
Complications in GI Endoscopy is Prof. Dr. Drs. h.c.
Meinhard Classen.
Meinhard Classen’s importance for modern endoscopy is
legendary, he influenced therapeutic endoscopy like no one
else, for example, via the introduction of ERCP and EPT. He
received prizes for his scientific work all over the world, and
we are proud that he accepted to be honorary president of
this symposium.
Very special thanks go to the members of the Scientific
Committee who put a lot of personal engagement in helping to select
topics and renowned speakers to make this
symposium a useful tool for every endoscopist
Scientific Committee in his every-day clinical work.
Looking forward to meeting you in June 2013!
Peter N. Meier, FASGE
The Scientific Committee and I invite you to
come to Hannover on 28 and 29 June 2013,
listen to the experts’ lectures and share your
experiences with the other participants in our
working groups. We especially encourage you
and your co-workers to send in relevant
abstracts. Selected abstracts will be presented
as lectures in the main programme, all others
will be presented in the poster exhibition.
