as Dr. Liz Gibson.
MDA is a medical-legal organisation which exists to defend doctors and where
necessary compensate patients. The MDA team's role is to unravel the facts in
situations where intentions have been tangled and the truth is debatable. This
four-part drama is set in the Prospect Valley Hospital, where Bill Henderson is
being treated for an angina attack by young intern, Dr. Liz Gibson, who is the
subject of an enquiry by the Health Review Board into her competence. The MDA
team, with Bill Henderson as case manager, have undertaken to defend Liz and is
initially successful, deflecting a formal hearing. But, Liz's competence is
again being questioned by the Board, following the death of her patient.
Suspecting a political agenda behind Dr. Gibson's recurring troubles, Jamie and
Layla investigate. They uncover stories pointing to a hospital in crisis, and
obviously, Dr. Gibson is made a scapegoat to conceal more serious issues. When a
young woman is found dead in the hospital toilets, the hospital{u02BC}s woes hit
the front-page news, courtesy of a photo leak to the press. Knowing that
intentional government under funding is behind the hospital's troubles, Liz
takes the fight right to the Minister, with community support. In another
development, Meg who feels betrayed by Steve Forest, approaches MDA, then
appears on the television, with her revelations, forcing the Minister to resign,
and casting doubt on the competence of the Health Review Board. Another
repercussion is the closure of the Emergency Wing at Prospect Valley Hospital as
a cost cutting measure. Though Liz Gibson is reinstated, her old job no longer
exists, the result of the closures. Interweaves into the main story, job stress
