<strong>The</strong> Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani is responsible for Benetton's striking<br />
advertising aesthetic. When his advertising campaign for death row inmates was<br />
premiered in the US in 1999, it provoked a storm <strong>of</strong> protest which led to the<br />
large American chain store Sears to cancel a multi-million dollar order for<br />
Benetton clothing. This in turn led to his sacking from the company.<br />
