Insurance<br />

Insurance for your event is important as it will cover<br />

the participants with regard to legal liability for bodily<br />

injury to, or damage to property <strong>of</strong> others (such as<br />

spectators, passers-by, property owners and others),<br />

resulting from your activity.<br />

The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Milton</strong> requires permit holders to carry<br />

general liability insurance in the amount <strong>of</strong> $2 million,<br />

naming the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Milton</strong> as “additional insured,<br />

inclusive <strong>of</strong> bodily injury and property damage per<br />

occurrence.” Permit holders must provide a Certificate<br />

<strong>of</strong> Insurance, which must state the following:<br />

• If alcohol will/will not be served (see page 8)<br />

• Estimated attendance<br />

• Date, time, location, and type <strong>of</strong> event<br />

<strong>Facility</strong> booking staff in our Community Services<br />

Department can help you acquire the required<br />

insurance, if needed.<br />

Cancellations<br />

• The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Milton</strong> Community Services<br />

Department reserves the right to cancel a permit<br />

if there is a break in the Terms and Conditions or<br />

if the facility is being used for a purpose for<br />

which it was not permitted.<br />

• Requests for refund must be received with at<br />

least 14 days notice prior to the booking date. No<br />

refunds will be given within 14 days <strong>of</strong> the<br />

booking date.<br />

• Refund requests for special events (swim meets,<br />

trade shows, sport camps/tournaments and full<br />

weekend events) must be received at least three<br />

months prior to the booking date. No refunds will<br />

be given for special events within three months<br />

<strong>of</strong> the booking date.<br />

• Administrative fees apply to all refunds and<br />

include a $10 cancellation fee and a $20 cheque<br />

issuance fee (if applicable).<br />

• Cancellation timelines are different for block<br />

bookings; please review this information with<br />

facility booking staff.<br />
