TRANSPORTATION & HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
Buffalo Grove offers the advantages of countryside living, with convenient
access to the regional transportation networks and services. The Village is just
30 miles from the City of Chicago, 15 miles from O’Hare International Airport
and 5 miles from Chicago Executive Airport (formerly Palwaukee.) Two federal
and four state highways, four railroads, and six bus routes serve Buffalo Grove.

North Central Service offers nine inbound and ten outbound trains each
weekday. The North Central Service includes the only O’Hare transfer stop in
the railway system. The Buffalo Grove station is located on Commerce Court
just south of Deerfield Parkway. Other nearby stations on the line include
Prairie View just north of Route 22 and Wheeling just south of Dundee Road.
With the acquisition of the EJ&E by the Canadian National Railway Company,
Buffalo Grove residents and businesses will experience a significant reduction
of freight rail traffic through Buffalo Grove starting in 2009.
Union Pacific Northwest has stations in Palatine, Arlington Heights, Arlington
Park, and Mount Prospect.
• Route 234 serves Buffalo Grove along Milwaukee Avenue and Dundee Road
and travels to Mount Prospect and the Des Plaines rail station.
Milwaukee District North has stations in Deerfield, on Lake Cook Road and
Northbrook.
Skokie Swift RTA line station in Skokie.
• Pace Route 626 services the business areas from Buffalo Grove to Northbrook
Court with express through to the Skokie Swift station.

Pace provides numerous routes for intersuburban travel, as well as connection
to numerous train stations.
hikinG & bikinG
Explore the beautiful tree-lined trails, travel along the three golf courses, use
the trail system to shop throughout the community, and explore the more than
400 acres of parks and open space throughout the Village. Buffalo Grove’s trail
system consists of over 45 miles of 8 to 10-foot multi-use paths and sidewalks.
The Village works with other communities and agencies to continually improve
the trail system by linking to other bike path systems. We invite you to bike,
walk or run along the trail system. Also, look for exciting events to promote the
trails and bicycle safety, such as the Bike with a Cop program, and the Annual
Police Department Bicycle Rodeo, coordinated in May annually.
