Association (AMPAL)<br />

AMPAL represents the <strong>Australia</strong>n and New Zealand music publishing industry<br />

and operates on behalf of its members in promoting and advocating the rights of<br />

music publishers, administrators of music copyright, songwriters and composers<br />

by representing their interest to government, commercial users, the wider music<br />

industry and the public. The AMPAL has now over 70 members and represents<br />

more than 90% of the economic value if the music-publishing sectors in the two<br />

countries.<br />

Over the past 12 months AMPAL together with a number of similar organizations<br />

dealing with copyright matters have formed an association to develop a number<br />

of educational programmes and strategies to combat the abuse of creators<br />

rights in the commercial and educational field. These organizations cover not<br />

only music but also the book, film and the electronic games industry. AMPAL also<br />

works closely with sister organizations around the World and is a member of the<br />

international forum.<br />

At MIDEM it is represented by the General Manager Peter Hebbes AM and as part<br />

of its ongoing commitment and engagement with the global industry AMPAL is<br />

very proud to be a key partner in the SOUNDS AUSTRALIA stand.<br />
