Why Invest in Brazil?
Industry
Brazil’s industry is currently booming, it has a
thriving primary sector which is based mostly on
soya and iron ore, of which Brazil is the world’s
largest exporter. Also it is soon to become the
world’s largest exporter of frozen meats. Brazil is
expecting its biggest ever harvest of grain this year
with an expected 135.8tonnes to be harvested. Grain
is currently a valuable commodity for a country as
prices last year doubled; this is linked to a rising
demand from Asia, which is expected to keep on
growing and therefore driving prices even higher.
Brazils other natural resource is oil. Petrobas,
Brazil state oil company have found oil in the Tupi
oilfield in the deep waters off the coast of Brazil
in the Santos Basin from anything between 5 and
8 billion barrels. Furthermore the oil is light-crude
which is less expensive to refine and worth more.
Petrobas has also announced there maybe further
oil deposits nearby
When the oil starts to be extracted it is expected that
it will significantly boost the economy (expected
2010). The consequences of this could be even
more far reaching as it could see a further balance
of power to Brazil in Southern America. Currently
Venezuela is the largest producer and exporter of
oil in the region but with this find Brazil will become
self-sufficient.
Brazil also has a strong manufacturing industry
producing steel and cars, it produces more cars
than Mexico and is home to many companies
including the production of engines for the BMW
MINI. Brazil is the worlds largest producer of biofuel
cars, currently 86% of cars sold in brazil run on
bio-fuel and with the world becoming more aware
of the global impact of cars, it is likely that Brazils
expertise will be called upon in the near future.
Brazil is also poised to become the worlds second
largest producer of Bio-fuel.
