HAWAI‘I VOLCANOES DELUXE NATURE ADVENTURE ITO-011
Approximate Duration: 6 hours Level 2 / Meal / Age Restrictions
Join this intimate and educational adventure to earth’s most active volcano – Kilauea in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Over the years
we have learned the best stops and short walks that reveal the essence of Kilauea. Your naturalist guide will share with you the wonders
of this special place. Your journey begins from the pier, where an air-conditioned passenger van will take you from sea level up the slope
of the world’s largest volcano, Mauna Loa, to an elevation of 4,000 feet and the summit of Kilauea, where you will visit the National
Park Headquarters. Explore the park’s natural features both by vehicle and with short walks. And, of course, if flowing lava is accessible
we will make that a priority.
Note: Participants must be at least 4 years of age and able to comfortably walk short distances of up to one mile on rocky and uneven terrain. You must
wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and we recommend you dress in long pants and a light jacket. Lunch, bottled water, beverages and gear are included. Seeing
molten lava is not guaranteed.
Your adventure begins from a black sand beach in the heart of Hilo, just a short distance from the cruise ship pier. Enjoy a great time on
the water with fun guides and amazing views – look out for a glimpse of the Mauna Kea Summit. Hilo is Americas wettest city so be
prepared for plenty of rainbows and a lush tropical coastline (the guides bring rain hats and ponchos but the water is always warm!).
Your kayaking excursion will take you out past Coconut Island and along Hilo’s shoreline with magnificent views of the Wailoa Park
Estuary and the Wailuku River Waterfall, where the 18-mile river reaches the ocean.
Note: Participants must be at least 10 years of age and in good physical condition. Maximum weight allowed is 250 lbs. This tour is not recommended for
those with back problems or heart conditions. You should wear a swimsuit under comfortable clothing. Waterproof camera, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
are recommended. Bring a towel. Two-person ocean kayaks, safety gear and paddling instruction will be provided. Itinerary is subject to change due to
weather and water conditions.
