Used by more than 1500 schools across Australia PAT-R Progressive Achievement Tests in Reading: Comprehension, Vocabulary and Spelling 4th Edition ACER Press 2008 Range Comprehension – First year of school to Year 10 Vocabulary – Years 3 to 10 Spelling – Years 2 to 10 Purpose To assess reading comprehension, vocabulary and spelling in order to monitor progress and inform teaching practice Administration Comprehension: 40 minutes – group; Test Booklet P and 1 are untimed; Test Booklet P is individual Vocabulary: 25 minutes – group Spelling: 20 minutes – group Key Features • Common scale for each of Comprehension, Vocabulary and Spelling • Comprehensive diagnostic and descriptive reports • Diverse range of text types • Detailed classification of Comprehension items to provide diagnostic information • CD-ROM containing copy masters and spreadsheet proforma Assessment Content Comprehension Test Booklet P (Prep) covers literacy concepts, letter sounds and blends and matching words to pictures, pictures to words and sentences to pictures. Test Booklet 1 has students underlining correct responses in the booklet. Test Booklets 2–10 are multiple choice; students read a range of passages of different text types with corresponding comprehension questions. Vocabulary Students are presented with sentences with one word underlined. The most appropriate synonym is selected from 5 alternatives.
