initial accreditation by the American Board of Funeral Service<br />
Education. David Coughran, Program Director, Bobbiann<br />
Lewis, Instructor and Ray Gisclair, Assistant Dean were<br />
present to receive the accreditation certifi cate from Michael<br />
Landon, Chair of the Committee on Accreditation Sunday,<br />

University Mortuary Science<br />
Building in Detroit, MI. Th e<br />
seminar will cover “Embalming<br />
Beyond Minimum Standards”<br />
followed by a laboratory<br />
demonstration with participation<br />
encouraged.<br />
The speaker is Michigan<br />
Embalmers Society President<br />
Sharon L. Gee. A 1986<br />
graduate of Wayne State University<br />
Mortuary Science, she<br />
has been teaching at her alma<br />
mater since 1996. With over<br />
24 years in the funeral profes-<br />
sion, she is also manager of<br />
the Pixley Funeral Home,<br />
Godhardt-Tomlinson Chapel<br />
in Keego Harbor, MI. She<br />
is also vice president of the<br />
American Society of Embalmers<br />
and a member of the British<br />
Institute of Embalmers. She<br />
is an avid public speaker and<br />
author on embalming-related<br />
topics. Her articles appear in<br />
numerous professional journals<br />
and she is a contributor<br />
to the embalming text, Embalming:<br />
History, Th eory &<br />
Practice, Mayer, Robert G. 4 th<br />
