DAN HAGEMANN „„ D<br />
Quarterback, Palo Alto, California, Junior, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 190, Born:<br />
11-5-54, Palo Alto High School, Sequoia High School<br />
AT UTAH: Dan is noted for his fine running but is not afraid to put<br />
the ball up in the air. During the spring he was able to make the option<br />
work to perfection. Hagemann is able to open the passing lanes when he<br />
rolls out because defenders can't afford to let him turn the ball up<br />
field and run. Coaches feel that he will give Utah the depth at the<br />
quarterback spot they lacked last year. During spring Dan also did some<br />
punting.<br />
HIGH SCHOOL: Played <strong>football</strong>, soccer and baseball. Was all-league<br />
in all three. Played in the North-South Shrine <strong>football</strong> game. Was<br />
captain <strong>of</strong> the <strong>football</strong> team and named one <strong>of</strong> the 100 best high school<br />
backs in the country by a magazine editor. Played freshman ball at the<br />
University <strong>of</strong> Oklahoma and played at Foothill Jr. <strong>College</strong> in California,<br />
and was named MVP and All Golden State Conference.<br />
PERSONAL: Majoring in architecture. Person he respects the most is<br />
his father who is a cement contractor. Nicknamed the Kid.<br />
KEVIN HARRISON<br />
Middle Guard, Connellsville, Pennsylvania, Junior 1VL, Ht: 6-2, Wt: 245<br />
Born: 8-2-54, Connellsville Area High School.<br />
AT UTAH: Kevin was moved this spring from tackle to middle guard<br />
to fill the opening left by the graduation <strong>of</strong> Mapu Manutai. He has the<br />
size to plug up the middle <strong>of</strong> the defensive line, but the speed and<br />
quickness to make him a good pass rusher. Kevin's biggest asset is his<br />
strength which overpowers many players. Last fall Harrison had 21<br />
assisted and 21 unassisted tackles. He also came up with a fumble<br />
recovery and blocked two passes.<br />
HIGH SCHOOL: Was Big 10 Invitational Heavyweight Wrestling<br />
Champ, was sectional runner-up. Was county and sectional winner in<br />
the shot put. All-conference and all-county in <strong>football</strong>. Had eight<br />
varsity letters — wrestling (2), <strong>football</strong> (3), track (3).<br />
PERSONAL: His father is coalminer and is the person whom he respects<br />
the most. Majoring in theatre at the U.<br />
ERICHEFFNER<br />
Center, Santa Ana, California, Junior, Ht: 6-4, Wt: 220, Born: 8-22-55<br />
Saddleback High School.<br />
AT UTAH: Heffner gives needed depth as the backup for Harlan<br />
Weise at center. Eric was an outstanding junior college player who was<br />
recruited to beef up the <strong>of</strong>fensive line. He has good speed which adds<br />
to his ability to block linebackers Utah will be facing.<br />
HIGH SCHOOL: Played <strong>football</strong> (3), and basketball (2). Named<br />
all-league in <strong>football</strong>. Played in Orange County all-star game. Rotary<br />
young man <strong>of</strong> the year. Played junior college <strong>football</strong>, named allleague<br />
and most improved player.<br />
PERSONAL: Majoring in sociology, criminology, aspires to be in the<br />
FBI. Father played <strong>football</strong> at San Jose State.<br />
MARK HOARD<br />
Fullback, Great Falls, Montana, Junior 1VL, Ht: 6-1, Wt: 195, Born:<br />
9-3-53, Great Falls Public High School<br />
AT UTAH: Mark may have come out this spring as the man to replace<br />
senior Steve Marlowe. Heicarried the ball only seven times last season<br />
but he is known for his blocking skills. He has the ability to get the block<br />
and spring a man out into the open. Mark also played defensive back<br />
during last season which adds to his value to the Utah team.<br />
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a tremendous high school athlete. Earned nine<br />
letters, three each in <strong>football</strong>, track and wrestling. Was all-state <strong>football</strong><br />
as junior and senior and co-captain <strong>of</strong> the team. Named most valuable<br />
wrestler in 1972 . . . was state champion in 185 lbs. class. Played on<br />
several championship teams .. . <strong>football</strong> in 1969 and 1971, wrestling in<br />
1970 and track in 1970. Received Murdo Cambell Award from High<br />
School.<br />
PERSONAL: Plans to go to graduate school after getting degree in<br />
biology. Father is dental technologist.<br />
