3. Third recorded <strong>of</strong>fense – all students<br />

Mandatory<br />

• Permanent expulsion – Student is permanently expelled from the<br />

<strong>Chamberlain</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong><br />

• The third <strong>of</strong>fense need not be in the same location, course, program or term<br />

as either the first or second <strong>of</strong>fense to invoke this sanction.<br />

II. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Conduct Policy<br />

A. Purpose<br />

A student enrolling in <strong>Chamberlain</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong> assumes an obligation to conduct<br />

himself or herself in a manner compatible with the <strong>College</strong>’s function as an institution for<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional education and the American Nurses’ Association Code <strong>of</strong> Ethics (ANA, 2001).*<br />

All students are expected to abide by the <strong>Chamberlain</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

Conduct Policy.<br />

The Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Conduct Policy applies to student behavior that affects the members <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Chamberlain</strong> community, irrespective <strong>of</strong> where that conduct may occur. Discipline may<br />

extend to <strong>of</strong>f-campus activities and locations or online activities, when they adversely affect<br />

members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Chamberlain</strong> community and/or pursuit <strong>of</strong> their objectives.<br />

B. Violations<br />

Any student found to have committed the following misconduct may be subject to disciplinary<br />

sanctions as outlined in this policy. This list is not all-inclusive but does include categories<br />

<strong>of</strong> misconduct as defined by the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

1. Acts <strong>of</strong> dishonesty, including but not limited to the following:<br />

• Furnishing false information to any <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial, faculty member or <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

• Forgery, alteration or misuse <strong>of</strong> any <strong>College</strong> document, record or instrument<br />

<strong>of</strong> identification<br />

• Computer piracy, including duplication <strong>of</strong> computer s<strong>of</strong>tware, copyright<br />

infringement and unauthorized computer entry<br />

2. Disruption or obstruction <strong>of</strong> teaching, research, administration, disciplinary<br />

proceedings and/or other <strong>College</strong> activities, including its public service functions<br />

on or <strong>of</strong>f campus, or other authorized non-<strong>College</strong> activities, when the act<br />

occurs on <strong>Chamberlain</strong> premises.<br />

3. Physical abuse, verbal abuse, abuse via electronic communication, threats,<br />

intimidation and harassment including, but not limited to, sexual harassment,<br />

coercion and/or other conduct that threatens or endangers the health or safety<br />

<strong>of</strong> any person, either on <strong>Chamberlain</strong> premises or at any <strong>College</strong>-sponsored activity.<br />
