Unsung Unsung Among Among Us Us (India) (India) Project Budget Grant Awarded: US$ 20,211 Supplementary Grants Implementing organization US$ 16,300 Project Purpose Document and showcase the unsung people living in society. Educate the participating public in photography, cinematography, sound recording, and film editing during the process of documenting the unsung characters. Project Objectives Disseminate the knowledge and use of photography and digital technology to the indegenous public and educate them to build capacity, especially for dealing with the cameras. Target Audience Interested local groups and individuals from different parts of the state. The project was started as part of People’s Plan Programme in 1997 with the leadership and ownership of Karakulam Grama Panchayath, in Kerala. Incorporated as a dream project of voluntary activists and public functionaries, Unsung Among Ussupports local people in their living and self-governance processes. The program evolved into an organized centre focused on upgrading rural development through Internet Communications Technology (ICT) and human resource development through self-help and employment training. Each of the component institutions of the centre has multiple responsibilities like Internet Technology (IT) education for the rural public, hi-tech education at grassroots level, Village Resources Mapping and Development Research for planning. The project team first looked for discussion and explain possible ways of documentation. Project Method The project team first developed a Participatory Model to achieve a better understanding of indigenous knowledge through short-term research into the cultural and technological history of Kerala.
