Nigel
Nigel was merely three years old when he was referred
to Beacon’s LIOP/TOTS program. Angry, fearful and
unpredictable, he had difficulty managing his feelings
often resulting in aggressive tantrums. “Nigel did not
know how to interact with others or how to share,”
said Carolyn, Nigel’s mother. Now at age 5, Nigel has
transformed into a polite, self-confident, stable child.
Outbursts and aggressive behaviors are a thing of the
past. Carolyn adds, “I do not have to tell Nigel to clean
up after himself, he does it on his own. He is proactive
with his own schedule, asking to read a book or go to
the park. A structured environment truly helps.” Nigel
aspires to be a fireman.

health services with specialized interventions
directed at helping young children and their
families. Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP),
Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect (PCAN) as
well as the monthly “Mommy & Me” activities
are crucial components Beacon promotes in
strengthening the child-parent relationship.
