DeAndre
After struggling with maintaining his grades and learning
to control his behavior, DeAndre came to Beacon in
September 2006. The structure and guidance provided
by Beacon helped him progress academically as well as
professionally. He has maintained excellent attendance,
grades and behavior during his involvement in the
program. Through vocational classes and individual
instruction, DeAndre learned how to complete paper and
online job applications, how to dress for a job interview
and how to answer interview questions. Beacon has
helped him acquire invaluable social, communication
and employment skills during his on-the-job training.
He has successfully landed jobs at Chop It Up Barber
Shop, Food 4 Less and upon his high school graduation
in August 2010, DeAndre was accepted at Job Corps.
His goal: to be trained as an electrician.

At Beacon’s HIGH sCHool, graduates receive more than
a diploma. They leave with dreams and the resources
to achieve those dreams. “Beacon helped me find
goals in my life, and the staff helped me become
successful,” comments DeAndre. Teachers and
counselors invigorate and motivate students
ensuring optimal performance. Whether it is
college, vocational school, or the workforce,
Beacon graduates are equipped with a positive
mindset and a calculated game plan to take
on future life challenges.
